1981 Lotus Eclat 2.2
Discussion
This is a late Eclat, with the 2.2 litre Lotus 912 engine, two Dellorto 45s, Getrag five speed gearbox, power steering and a galvanised chassis, but still with inboard rear drum brakes (discs on the front). The JPS paint scheme and decals are original, and the car is overall in reasonable nick. It feels fast and lively on the road, and handles like, well, a Lotus!

Having owned an original Elan S4 DHC for about 12 years, I am a bit biased, but I was never a great fan of this era of Lotus...however, a pal of mine did have a late model Excel SE in red, and I really liked that car!
I was asked to drive it all the way from Newcastle to Sheffield in a house move, and that changed my opinion of them.
If I recall correctly, his had about 170BHP, and it seemed to have some sort of 'aero effect' as it sat better at higher speeds (!) on the motorway. It is a few years ago, but once over 80 leptons it sat down a bit lower on the springs, or so it seemed !
The 80's Lotuses were often underrated cars by many, but once driven you realise just how good they were.
Yours is a nice original example, and I would imagine it is quite rare now?
