Although it has 152,000 miles on it , it drove like a third of that. Had been utterly reliable until number one piston/rings went. Its parked up until Im able to get it repaired. Quite well optioned as well - and quick. Im not sure if its standard as the boost gauge goes well into the red.

Mine is standard and the boost gauge never goes into the red, maybe it's had a stage 1 remap?95Aero said:
I've been told on the UKSaab forum that any more than 290ish bhp is at the top of the standard piston's capability, so if you're repairing maybe it's worth upgrading the pistons or mapping the engine back to standard?

Another excellent choice. Do you have a complete or ultimate collection in your mind, or is this a fluid collection you are building?
I have space for two or three more cars. I try not to buy 2 cars that are of a similar nature so now I'm missing a classic hot hatch (Sunbeam Lotus, Mk1 Golf GTi, 205 1.9Gti maybe) and a classic/vintage "racer" (i.e. a D Type replica, MG j2 or something like that). Wouldn't mind a modded classic 70s celica too.I enjoy the different experience each car offers to drive hence I'm not all supercars or all vintage etc.
Classic rallying/racing is something I plan to do in the future but that'll be when my sons bugger off to Uni in 2 and 5 years respectively.

Now you say Sunbeam Lotus to fill the hot hatch slot, all I can say is "YOU MUST GET ONE" and then adopt me dad

Ok so I've got to ask... Is it the 80k from Cheshire classic cars that kept tempting you? I enjoy the different experience each car offers to drive hence I'm not all supercars or all vintage etc.

I must have looked at that white one a thousand times mate. Stunning. Then I went to buy the Abarth and couldn't believe it when I saw this yellow one at the same dealer. The restoration is superb quality. It's been subtly upgraded too, turreted and has a Maguard sump guard amongst a range of other things. Those arches are steel too, not fibreglass. It will be getting ragged around North Yorkshire this summer though. Would be a crime to let it sit in the garage and not play out although it won't be getting wet.
My mate who is an automotive engineer (ex-ginetta) who looks after my track car and classics and inspects cars before I buy them is a proper Ford man. He was more excited than me when he was inspecting it.

LEG.....How about an Escort RS1600i for your hot hatch, also it's a much nicer car than a S1 RS Turbo.
There's some stunners about and no,I don't have one for sale.
Good call. Wouldn't mind a Mk1 Xr2 either. Oooh or a mk1 supersport fiesta. I had a Mk1 Astra GTE back in the late eighties but they're like rocking horse doodah. And an 88 205 1.9 GTI in 89/90. There's some stunners about and no,I don't have one for sale.
It's people like you that put my marriage at risk posting ideas like that..
