So just getting settled in. Called the dealer today to get them to fix the tracking, but surprise surprise they didn't call me back after saying they would. Tried to use the cool box which just about fit 2 bottles of 330ml beer and 2 500ml of water, but it's basically designed for soda-guzzling Americans (it would fit quite a number of cans). I think wine/champagne won't fit. Anyway, it wasn't cold, I suspect I haven't quite set it up properly, will have a closer look tomorrow.

Fuel consumption is barely above 20mpg since filling up, but have been in a lot of traffic so that's no surprise.

The engine sounds lovely starting up, a very pleasing V8 sound, but it's otherwise silent. I'm not sure if I'd like more engine noise or not.

The car looks very nice, a small boy commented on it when I was parking today, which was good, his mum said 'it's lovely isn't it'. Which is nice for a 56 plate really. On closer inspection in sunlight however the paint has sort of swirl/scratches. I'm not sure if it's possible to restore the paint to something closer to brand new.

Have just taxed it, £500 kerching. Can't sell the old car until my personal plate gets switched over. I will see if I can get a mobile repair company to come out and make it look nicer, get it fully valeted, etc. in the mean time.

The satnav is not bad for a 2006 vintage one (it looks like you can buy a new map disc for £50 on fleabay) in some ways, but it doesn't seem to be picking up traffic signals. It hasn't got full postcode search and annoyingly you can't use it while in motion (although I believe it's possible from the back seat?). There is voice control, but without reading the manual I haven't managed to make it useful. Though it did read out an incoming SMS to my phone, which was quite impressive. Replacing with the newer head unit is as I understand it difficult to impossible as they changed the connectors. The DVD changer takes six discs, which is handy. I put on Leonard Cohen Live in London DVD, which was really good with the 19 speakers, and Cohen's sonorous voice seemed appropriate - the car is black, dark and cocooning and it just seemed the right atmosphere. After that came a Johnny Cash DVD, which didn't seem right at all....

The car is definitely a barge, there's no sense of launching it round bends, though I did experiment with turning the cruise control on and just doing the steering, but it didn't really feel right. Thankfully the cruise control has a button on the stalk to close down the distance to the car in front. I had it on the furthest of 3 distances, so in future going to 1 or 2 should sort out the tendency for people to undertake.
