Beer......eBay......and a V8 Discovery

I don't think this was pictured on a Disco, but yer they are pretty much the same. Safari Style.
Ive changed for a decent panel filter, and when the window is down, I can hear the intake a bit better, but its not a huge amount extra noise to be fair. Don't notice with the window shut, plus the mud tyres make enough now.
Just waiting for my straight through Cat delete and centre box delete to arrive, then Ill have noise

Meh, if it's anything like when we straight pipe the Chimaeras (same sort of engine) then it's only annoying if it drones, the actual volume isn't that loud. You'll definitely be alright if you keep the backbox on it, do a youtube search as there's all different combinations of straight/decat/backbox videos on there.
I like this one http://youtu.be/8AP4cAj7i6Y?t=10s
That sounds perfect!!! Happy if it ends up like that!I like this one http://youtu.be/8AP4cAj7i6Y?t=10s

Well this weekend's plan was to fit the lift kit, however, things go busy, DIY ensured, then yesterday the vehicle wouldn't start after a visit to halfrauds. It knows how st the place is, but I needed wipers.
Found out that the rubber seal on the LPG spacer, next to the intake had perished, and split
So, into Halfrauds I go, found the exact stuff I needed on the shelf, at some ridiculous cost, but I needed it, would have been sat doing nothing otherwise. Fitted it in the carpark, and happy days, a Disco that runs better than before. So it must have been holey for a while.
Tonight, after work, its going on the ramps. Hopefully 4 hours will see the whole suspension changed, wishful thinking maybe. If not, rear tonight, front tomorrow. But Ive persuaded the techies to leave behind an air gun, so should make life a bit easier!

I took mine for a spin with just the downpipes/cats fitted. It was silly, in a good way!
The lift is done, just didn't have tie to upload when I got home last night. Had to cut the front shocks off, they were deader than dead!Im so tempted to do it, I had the angle grinder in my hand last night, and was spying the backbox!! So tempting

I didn't notice much of a difference removing the backbox, hardly anything at all. Which reminds me, I need to make a side exit!
The centre box is the real noise killer then? Maybe just remove centre, leave backbox. Looks standard, sounds good? So, Monday night's task of playing with the truck....
Where we started
Shiney springs and shocks
LPG tanks meant it wouldnt sit on the ramp normally, this'll do!!
Front done
Finished!!
Now I know I need to get the bumper corners trimmed and back on, itll look more presentable then, but tonight I went for a little drive with my best mate, and got a couple of pics
The V8 didn't actually need fuel! Just a visit to its second home!

The other half was understanding of the purchase, the snorkal got the OK, the rest, well, apart from being moaned at that it was already too high to get into, she has been away for two weeks
So, when she lands at the Airport tomorrow, and I pick her up, I think i'll take my Civic. Safe option!

Well I got into a little bit of trouble from the OH for the bits Ive changed on the Discovery. Apparently it's not cute now. But.......a RR Classic is cute still. So I'm on the hunt to add to the fleet, it can only be a V8 of course!
The discovery hasn't had much more done. Ive fitted proper wheelnuts to it, for the steel wheels rather than using the alloy wheelnuts. Fitted a CB Radio, and most importantly, as the towbar is too high, fitted a lovely Dixon Bates adjustable towbar. Benefit of it, I have a spare Nato hitch, so I now have an attachment for both, and can buy a Sankey as a tip trailer!

Well, another 1400 miles under the belt, and i'm still loving the truck!
On boxing day, we disappeared off to Brugge with the caravan, so the outfit was weighing in somewhere north of 4 tonne, cruised to dover, over to dunkirk, and down to Brugge. It got a lot of attention when driving round the small city
And only just fitted in the underground carpark!! Jesus, parking is cheap in London compared to here!!
The outfit!
Since being back its done a sterling job towing
And of course a light bit of night laning, gets it all dirty again
And it scrubbed all not too badly for Goodwood PH Sunday Service too!

From what I've read they are not illegal, unless they cause harm. The whole time they are there, and aren't causing harm, there is nothing wrong. Thats reading paperwork given to be by a Traffic Officer. So should be ok. Pedestrians, whom are the only ones to be hurt, would go under the vehicle first, rather than over the bonnet, so it shouldnt cause issue there!
Just completed over 70 miles of greenlane tonight, and it got filthy! Really impressed at some of the stuff its done though!

Having spent since the summer with a petrol V8 (A Yank Ford) and loving it, how is your mpg?
Mine is 26 on a run, 16 if I'm very careful in the city and 12 if I drive it normally.
Oh yours is healthy! Towing the caravan to Brugge, in a rush, I averaged 7.2mpg on Petrol. Around Belgium I was filling up on LPG at 23p per litre, and with 5 up I was averaging about 19 on our runs. If it ever hits the 20's I will be amazed. The only benefit is LPG makes the cost like it is doing good MPG. Im know by all at the petrol station!Mine is 26 on a run, 16 if I'm very careful in the city and 12 if I drive it normally.

MOT examiner considered them dangerous sharp metal edges and required me to remove them for a pass.
See mine passed, as did two friends with them. At LR! But there you go.I enjoy having the Petrol V8, mpg is not a worry as its a toy, and a towing tool. My daily is hitting 70mpg, so it balances out nicely.
Last night, well, it got a tad muddy again! Just popped out with a few friends, drove responsibly, but the deep water made for a lot of mess.
One of the lesser bits of water
