I didn't notice much of a difference removing the backbox, hardly anything at all. Which reminds me, I need to make a side exit!
The centre box is the real noise killer then? Maybe just remove centre, leave backbox. Looks standard, sounds good?

That's what I did, what I mentioned earlier. Sounds ok but is v noisy, guess it just depends on where you plan to use it!

Yer, I'm really thinking I need to do it that way. I don't mind the noise, towing, but on campsites on tickover it won't be too loud will it?

So, Monday night's task of playing with the truck....

Where we started

Shiney springs and shocks

LPG tanks meant it wouldnt sit on the ramp normally, this'll do!!

Front done

Finished!!

Now I know I need to get the bumper corners trimmed and back on, itll look more presentable then, but tonight I went for a little drive with my best mate, and got a couple of pics

The V8 didn't actually need fuel! Just a visit to its second home!

For the vast majority of people, including me, V8 + Loud = A Good Thing! Difficult to explain, but removing the centre box just made it loud but not in a good way? If that makes sense? I suppose it was "noisy" rather than "nicely loud"?

Try it, see what you think, I just chucked a piece of flexi in place of the box to try it out (as I said earlier, the inlet & outlet on the D90 are staggered, so you can't drop a straight piece of pipe in).

Awesome biggrin

You can almost hear David Attenborough say "Here, we see a pair of majestic V8's in their natural habitat, they will feed here for several hours before heading out into the wilderness"

Great work.

It could just be the angles in the picture but is it sitting flat on the road? Looks to be leaning to the o/s to me.

Must admit, the first think I thought with those pics was this: tongue out

Unfortunatley, its not a pair of V8's, the 110 is a Turner Engineering engined Td5. About 180bhp from memory, with enough torque to embaress most diesels.

And yes, the Disco has the typical disco lean at the rear. They all seem to do that from memory, no idea why either!

Shouldn't do it with new springs. Are they 'handed', as in they should be fitted to a specific side? Try swapping them over to see if it makes a difference.

Mine leans, but it's on original, knackered, coils.

Not handed at all. Both are the same, which is interesting. Maybe its the dodgy forecourt i'm on, ill have a look when I'm at home tonight, my drive is dead level.

Mine sits low on both sides at the back. I have tried two sets of springs, both the same.

It's probably broken. hehe

Please don't say that! I have got some 1" spring spacers that are going in this weekend, just to give the ass that up stance.

I need a dixon bates now for towing, don't really fancy a drop plate, they don't look quite strong enough

It's slightly nose high because your springs are really specced for the diesel with the heavier engine. My old Disco used to sit slightly nose high too. Apparently a winch will cure it smile

Winch will be mid next year. Considering it wasn't a planned purchase, and Im now a month and one day in, I've kinda spent a lot more than intended. Whoops

I was intending doing all that to mine. 2 years later it's exactly as I bought it, although a bit more scruffy and neglected.

The other half was understanding of the purchase, the snorkal got the OK, the rest, well, apart from being moaned at that it was already too high to get into, she has been away for two weeks biggrin

So, when she lands at the Airport tomorrow, and I pick her up, I think i'll take my Civic. Safe option!

Well I got into a little bit of trouble from the OH for the bits Ive changed on the Discovery. Apparently it's not cute now. But.......a RR Classic is cute still. So I'm on the hunt to add to the fleet, it can only be a V8 of course!

The discovery hasn't had much more done. Ive fitted proper wheelnuts to it, for the steel wheels rather than using the alloy wheelnuts. Fitted a CB Radio, and most importantly, as the towbar is too high, fitted a lovely Dixon Bates adjustable towbar. Benefit of it, I have a spare Nato hitch, so I now have an attachment for both, and can buy a Sankey as a tip trailer!
