This afternoon, I took my cylinder head to my tuner as we are starting the ball rolling on the porting.
The replacement cylinder head was complete with camshafts, but my tuner had a set loose from another car that he gave me in exchange
we are just confirming some final details and then they will be shipped off to be reground. Current specs are 0.8mm extra lift @ 262 degree.
We can possibly get more lift but we would need to send a cylinder head to ensure we do not get further. I suspect 0.8mm will be enough.
We have also set in motion plans for a new turbo, very excited.

Few updates.
We should gain a lot from the head porting. Inlets are very very restrictive.
Unfortunately the head turns out had a bent intake valve stem, only 1, but missing both followers and the rocker for the same cylinder.
I got some money back from the Ebay seller, luckily, the rest of the head is good and we were able to get replacement components.
Due to buying the turbo and having the head to pay for I won't be shipping the cam off until early January so hopefully we should have everything back and ready to build by Feb.

I guess so! https://youtu.be/tNJs_x3R6Ww?t=4m43s
Surprised someone bothered to film it, I'm lucky enough to get photos.
Thanks both above
You do get a few odd looks, mostly positive, thumbs up and lads asking for a cheeky race away from the lights.
Even my clients like it. I've had 2 take photos for their kids so far lol.
We have the turbo and just waiting on the head and we will start the rebuild process when I get the cams back.
Gave the car a clean and gave it it's tri-monthly alignent.

- 2 degrees camber all round
Trying some new settings
0.5 Toe in Front
1.0 Toe out Rear
Hoping for a bit more initial turn in as there is a bit of a dead spot on normal road tyres just off center (on the direzza 03g semi slicks it wasn't there at all).
so far it seems good!

I like the car. A lot of work & money has been put in to it.
Ignore people making silly comments. They don't pay your bills
Hi Grant, sorry didn't see your post.Ignore people making silly comments. They don't pay your bills
Appreciate the kind words
Today was less than ideal, car broke down! First time in my ownership.
I falsley diagnosed it as a duff slave cylinder. As my clutch is a heavy 6 paddle I imagined it was on it's way out anyway.
Infact , and luckily for my bank account, it wasn't anything so dramatic.
A clip which holds ones of the clutch lines in decided to disintegrate. Causing fluid leak and lack of hydraulic pressure.
I could have drove home clutchlessly but not ideal given my journey had lots of traffic lights etc.
I broke down originally on double yellows and I couldnt block the road as it was the entrance to the train station, so stopped about 3ft along from a dropped curb.
I had a couple of (older) people complain that I was blocking the road or the crossing (i wasnt).
I said sorry my car has broken, what else can I do? The car wouldn't start off the starter as it was up a hill. This one old woman said get out and push (up a hill, yeah right). fk off you old bint!
In the end I elisted the help of 3 lads and my Mrs who helped push the car up the hill and between them and the starter motor, got the car running and moved to another location.
And another young lad in a really nice A3 stopped to check i was ok as well. So appreciate that.
Very disappointed, plenty of people beeping at me for holding them up for 5 seconds if that, or complaining that I'm semi blocking a "crossing", but very few willing to offer any help.
Says a lot about our society today. Or maybe that's just Basingstoke in particular.
It should be fixed tomorrow anyway. All is well in the world.
Gave the car it's yearly wash and decontamination.

Just a gentle polish, combination of Scholl S20 Black and Megs 205 on a mediumy pad (Green Hexlogic if you're interested).

Coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum light which was a breeze to be honest.

Thanks to Elite Car Care for the use of the unit :-)
I have a trackday on Friday at Bedford SEN. See how we stand with the oil cooler and suspension tweaks. (the H&R Rollbars and also fitted an UltraRacing underbody brace.
After that I am collecting a Blue Needle cluster. (mine has Red needles. Blue came on some R-Line models)
And also getting a braided clutch line done at AKS cos it's 5 minutes away, which completely removes the risk of having the OEM line and connections fail.
Annoyingly when we did the oil cooler we were going to do one but ran out of time.
I have sourced some additional parts as well with the help of Bobby, to help with power. My cylinder head is back with us now and the turbo is ready. I have headbolts, just need a head rebuild kit with all the gaskets etc and some pipework and then the tear down will begin.
