Swoxy's A4 3.0 quattro Sport
Discussion
I drive a fantastic 330d Coupe. It's an auto and having just returned from holiday in Canada I decided that I need a winter car (disregarding that I work in London and live in the suburbs). I wanted to spend around shed money but didn't mind what I bought as long as it was interesting.
I considered a Shogun Pinin (too small), a Range Rover (too battered) and an Audi Allroad (too expensive), I tried to find a cheap TT - I typed quattro into Auto Trader, hit search and around 24 hours later I owned an A4 3.0 quattro Sport ..
It's in great condition having had two owners, the previous for eleven years and full service history at a dealer and a specialist. It's a six speed manual with leather and is even on four Continental tyres

Nice photo! Glorious autumnal foliage.
Here's the thread on another one:

I've driven one, and thought considering the journey and speeds was juicy.

I read that thread, thanks carinaman (do you have a Carina?)
It's not fair to compare it to the 330d but it reminds me a little of my old 330Ci.
I got 22 mpg driving across and then into central London last Saturday and 29 mpg on light, hour and a half long run this morning. So far, so good ..

Thanks for the reply Swoxy. I've not driven an E46. I drove a 320i E36 in the late 90s and the B6 Quattro felt a more leaden, less nimble drive. The driver of that B6 was worried that the head gasket had gone, but seems it was getting condensation in the oil filler due to short commuter runs. It's not fair to compare it to the 330d but it reminds me a little of my old 330Ci.

Nice. Which bulb is out? I had one of these, which ate bulbs, headlights and tail lights.
After five years I noticed that I had been replacing the failed tail light bulbs with identical items. By accident I discovered that the tabs on the correct tail light bulb which should have been fitted were subly different in their respective vertical spacing. Problem cured, never has a bulb out afer that.

Interesting shed that.
What confuses me is a 330d is hardly an exotic, surely it can be used daily.
I too am interested by this. Very similar cars surely? And how is a a4 that much better in the snow than a beemer? Couldn't you have just spent £300 on winter tyres? What confuses me is a 330d is hardly an exotic, surely it can be used daily.

It's a headlamp, I think it's a H7.shalmaneser said:

I was missing owning a petrol six since my 330Ci and bought this car for not much more than a set of winter tyres for the 19"s on the 330d GCH said:
Quattro and manual....not that there is any snow to make a difference
Yeah, about that ..Edited by Swoxy on Tuesday 2nd December 20:56
