So how did that go in? From inside the car then up?

Good work getting it fitted, even more so if you didn't need a touch up pen afterwards.
Thanks, yes, remarkably successful installation given that it did indeed go in through the door, then straight up, holding it in place with one hand while getting a couple of bolts in place...

Next up, having put the cassette back in was the headlining....

Regularly referred to as fragile, flimsy, delicate etc. it had survived remarkably well under a dust sheet on top of an intenernal flat roof in the body shop...

Before doing this though, a smart person would remember to put the aerial back in with additional silicone sealant (on the new paint job, which felt wrong, but sensible). Also to double and triple check the sunroof drains were all connected. Luckily, I had the guide to remind me!

The re-installation is a tricky affair, it's a lot lighter than the sunroof cassette, but a lot more delicate. It needs feeding in through the boot to beyond where it clips in, then shuffling backwards into where the two locking tabs at the back go. The crucial part is using the B-pillar trim to support it in the middle so you can move it back and forwards to get it correctly in place. This part took some figuring out....

Once it's held in the correct place, you can put the various trim panels back on to hold it in place

... and blow me, if it doesn't start to look like the sea of grey plastic that is a 90's German car interior again...

There then followed sun visors, grab handle and various other bits of rear seat trim, plus the rear seats with the borrow of a vacuum cleaner to remove the remainder of the glass fragments.

Having checked with the body shop, they were happy for everything except handles, indicators and the bonnet to go back on, so I put the rear lights back in, just to make it look more like a car!

I got a cheekly look at the bonnet and bumper that has been finished, as the bumper was the next task, and one I knew would be a pain (given the fight the fog light fastening put up last time)

It is looking increasingly likely that it might see the road again this year.... I even went so far as to book a timing belt and thermostat change for the end of the month, both jobs I'll be happier to know they're done before submitting it for an MOT....

... and a day off resulted in the front bumper being back on.

Timing belt change is booked for 29th, the bodyshop are reassembling the doors and finishing off, and then collection and straight to an MOT. Gulp.

Might need a new battery first of course given how long it's been sat, we shall see.

Nice one and good luck with the MOT - always nerve racking when been off road for a while.

I bought another Corrado (project but came with so many parts and rare parts for not a lot of money that i couldn't say no - Recaro, oil volt dials, another leather interior, brake upgrades, wheels, axle, subframe, carbofibre panels). Wants some fabrication work and a respray and both booked end of summer.

Thanks, I’ll update here with the red sheet of doom when the time comes…. hehe

Your new acquisition sounds lovely, and needs a thread. What engine did you go for in the end?

A week off started with Corrado fettling as planned (with a brief pause to add my thoughts to the VR6 spotted article).

It was good to see it again once the dust covers were off. There has been painting progress....

This needs filling with something....

Ah, here we go...

So, time to manipulate the sunroof cassette back into the interior and then refit it. Single handed, without scratching the fresh paint.

In car parks, long coupe doors can be a pain as you're always worried about opening them onto something. Today, they were a godsend as the rear seats were full of bits of interior.
Open wide!

After some minor contortions, and a view like this, progress was made and the 'new' cassette with no broken bits was in.

The new cassette is from a '93 car, wait a moment, that means, yup, the motor is different.

A little rooting around the parts stash of stuff I didn't dismantle (which was become a common theme) located it, and fortunately, its a straight swap.

With the battery having sat here for 18 months, testing is off the cards, however, the focus is getting the car exterior finished and getting it moving, MOT-ed and a couple of other jobs (timing belt, thermostat). I will definitively have to come back to this, as the trim is wrong, it's a panel of different coloured cloth that isn't cut to move with the roof... As I'm a guest in someone else's workshop with limited facilities though, I'll do what I can....

Right, onto the headlining (seperate post to follow as I'm snatching time to update this between jobs on my week off).
Hi,
Great that you are able to progress, but Is it just me, I can't seem to see any pics, just Icon's of a thumbsnap, but no actual pictures, and trying to click on the thumbsnap gives an error.

Interesting, I couldn't see the ones in your quoted post initially, only my originals, but I can now see both.
Hopefully just a glitch somewhere....

Just to say I have now full visibility of the pics, great stuff, well done for persevering with the Corrado, whether you decide to keep it or not, its one more escaping the crusher.

Hi,
You may have resolved this already, but did you install the oil feed line to the Charger, was reading through your post again, and noticed on that on page-6 , one of the pics shows the Charger Feed line with a "EARLS" label on it, was this specifically sized internally ?, as the genuine VW one was specially sized both on internal bore size and length to limit the oil pressure to the Charger, seem to remember this needs to be below max of <1 Bar , otherwise if the feed line is to large internally, and too short it can allow excessive oil pressure to the Charger which is known to cause leaks internally and even blow the seals.
Hopefully all is correct .
How is it going with your Corrado, is it on the road again ?
Cheers.

I had to go digging just to make sure that I was thinking about the same hose... and yes I was. Splendid.
It's the one that JMR offer and fit as an upgrade to the standard one. I confess I didn't check the internal diameter of it, but it ran fine with it until the second charger rebuild where there was a problem with the seals I think.

Funnily enough, I went to visit it yesterday, and it's looking glorious. It was getting a final polish, and the door cars are being reassembled next week when I drop the old doors off.
Once they've freed off the sticking caliper that is!

Getting closer to taking it for an MOT....

Hello from a cousin! (Car).

Very nice and painful try!

The result is outstanding and counts more as the car is getting older.

Since there was a scepticism, into your post, for the g60 vs the vr6,
here are some facts:
