I don't think the issue lies with who made it, so much as they're not a small car anymore, and (IMO) there's so many around what is the point of opening a thread to see what we can all see every time we step outside?
No offence intended, and maybe the OP could have titled his thread "classic minis", but it's really no different to posting a "show us your Fiesta/Picasso/Golf" thread if you include cars that are so common.
Different when it is someone posting a specific thread for their car, in more detail. And I know they are good to drive, so no offence intended.
Wow us and them much? You do know MINI is a brand and not a dimension? No offence intended, and maybe the OP could have titled his thread "classic minis", but it's really no different to posting a "show us your Fiesta/Picasso/Golf" thread if you include cars that are so common.

I was gonna say that ph need to get a like button installed on posts because there's some cracking cars on this thread both old and new, didn't really think the "elitism" that exists in the vw scene was part of the MINI scene.

That's part of the issue, I think. It's a brand now, it used to be a model. Where it started as an innovative approach to small car manufacturing, all it is now is (an admittedly very good) small car that uses a tenuous link to that previous models history (old rally heritage etc) to sell it....and my point about seeing them everywhere stands. Apart from some borrowed retro styling (see also Fiat 500) it's just a car, I will literally see twenty or thirty every day on my work journey, one per mile?

The original design was a stroke of genius no doubting that and certainly lead to the mobilisation of a many a generation afterwards. As regards to the rally links, the current MINI rally car whilst it isn't the off the production line and straight on to the course it holds it own. Plus with comparison to other modern rally cars neither are they....and my point about seeing them everywhere stands. But your seeing them as you would have done in the sixties or seventies....everywhere, I believe it's the signs of a good design and successful brand one that's carrying on the tradition of a classic British brand.
Oh and happy Christmas sir.

All good banter this......and my point about seeing them everywhere stands. Apart from some borrowed retro styling (see also Fiat 500) it's just a car, I will literally see twenty or thirty every day on my work journey, one per mile?
You should take one for a drive, especially a supercharged Cooper S, they have the ability to upset what appear on paper to be more 'capable' cars, and then entice you to a lot of searching through the classifieds. The latter R56 and current F56 models have deviated a long way from a good recipe - they're still good cars but the original new MINI from '01 onwards are a future classic.

Never quibbled about it being a good car, have driven and been driven in a few and I know if I had one I'd love driving it.
I felt the same going to a Ford show in my Fiesta turbo, seeing lines of more modern ST or RS Focuses in rows of almost identical-ness
I know anyone who checks my profile and sees I currently drive a Bora will find this difficult to believe, but I needed the boot space!
Once my need has passed, I would love to get back to a classic Mini as a daily...
