He is indeed... already a member on there we have chatted before I'm doing the kit car with b204 in and sequencial turbos I was looking at VGT previously
Sorry mate didn't realise it was you. Did you get the VGT in the end? That HE451ve I sold was HUGE!!! Weighed 26kgs & dwarfed my gt3076r!! Monster turbo! I think it's on a old BMW 5 series now in Bosnia!!

Interesting project but i don't see any positives adding another engine . No torque control between axles plus packaging a cooling package for both engines that actually works is going to be a nightmare . Ive run twin engines and monitoring what both are doing and synching controls just takes away from the fun of driving for me .
Hi Froggy (presume it's you?) Lots of torque, 4wd and a challenge to get to work well... a single engine and 4wd would obviously be simpler but where is the fun in that.
Controlling both should be simple enough, throttles will be linked, clutch will be linked, gear selectors will be linked so it should be much like driving any other big hp 4wd car.... we shall see

The problem is despite synchronising throttles etc you have no control over wheel speed so the front will be spinning its tits off as you launch and the inside front will spin as you have a lot of traction at the rear . Not as big an issue going down the box but shifting up with the front engine bouncing off the limiter in the first three gears with the rear engine at a substantially lower rpm .
The twin bike engined tiger ended up running a trick motec system to try and control wheelspin but it didn't fully solve the car trying to swap ends round corners .
In practise you can only use the power that the front wheels can cope with as the mechanical grip at the rear will allow the front to lift even more making the issue worse plus the only solution is to lift off .
Don't get me wrong I've seen these creations get down the strip without problems but for a road or track use there's a lot of hurdles to mount .
There is a mini clubby estate floating round with a pair of red top vx motors in that went over to auto boxes to solve a lot of driveability issues . He has a web site Somewhere with lots of build details and diary

The journey is sometimes more fun than the destination . I lost count of all the hours and fab work that went in the bin when I did my twin charged build or the big Vgt Holset but would still do it all again
Indeed it's all a good learning experience... and beats watching TV especially given the top gear situation.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
