Love it! I had a 2.9 Sov a few years ago and always wanted the 4.0, I ended up going the wrong way into a tree and I never properly got over it. I loved that car!

Thanks- sometimes it is a bit difficult to stick to actual words to describe the situations we find ourselves in..

I have a hankering for one of these, badly, but the potentially high running costs are off sadly off putting!

However, my favourite quote from the blog had to be:

Something else was an approximation- the brakes were notable by their absence. This is obviously not an issue on an 1800kg 4.0l car. Not at all.

hehe

Out of the 15 or so cars i've had in my limited years of driving, only 2 properly stick in my mind as the ones that got away. Both of them were an absolute nightmare to own from start to finish, and one of them was my Jag Sovereign. I remember having to fork out £800 for the gold lined idle valve - I only paid £500 for the car 2 weeks before! I loved mine like it was my first born.

It had such presence and even though it was slower than a mini bus full of Nunns, it sounded great.

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with yours mate.

The way to look at it is that you can buy one outright for about the same as a month's repayment on a new one..

Then either learn how to fix em, or get a tame mechanic and off you go.

A mondeo tdci can throw a 1k bill no problem;)

Quite right, also you end up driving a £50K car (price dependent on model) that someone else has paid for, at that price. Most of the reliability problems seem to stem from neglect (certainly the case on my low mileage X-type anyway) or normal wear and tear (brakes and tyres need replacing on any car) so even when things go wrong you still pay less than running a newer -insert model of boring box here- smile

That is essentially the reasoning behind my whole fleet..
