This is now going the way of the first McCartney wife..

Started her off on a diet of 5L of veg to 40 or so of crushed dinosaur- what with her having the Lucas Prince of Darkness (TM) pump, I'm taking it easy!

Learning from my experiences with the AAZ engined golf, I put £20 in prior to putting the Veg in. then topped off the tank afterwards.

Off out to see the parents the now- if you hear swearing you'll know its gone well

I absolutely loved my 1.9d! Was P reg too.

Was driving my MGB Manchester to Leeds & back everyday when someone gave me the Polo.

Ran it on veg oil (About 80% Veg Oil to 20% diesel. Seemed to run much smoother on veg oil!
That was back when veg oil was 45p a litre from Costco!

Def put a new fuel filter in once you've run on veg oil for a bit.
The veg oil seemed to clean all sort of gunk out.

I was so happy to have a car with working heaters and Radio 4. MGB had neither!
Sometimes it's easy to forget how great it is to have the simple things.

biggrin

It had a new filter about 1k miles ago-once the veg gets ramped up i'll look to do it againsmile

Its about as simple as it gets..but a turbo would be nice..

Am also tempted by a b gt as a summer smoker but have more than enough on me plate at the moment.

Backbox delete completed for a total of £3!

Being a diseasal, its quiet even without one.

We're now heading towards the 2nd tank with VEG-aiming for 20%(likely made up of 9l veg with 1l petrol for dilution). The warmer weather should allow that to be ran no issue.

I used to keep a 1l bottle of veg oil in the boot's cubbyhole.
Well handy if you ever run out of diesel!
This being fitted with the Lucas prince of darkness(tm) pump means i'm very wary of running it on svo.

That, and the last time i changed the filter i had to tow start it means bunging in a litre of veg would be interesting..

Got up the gumption to take this thing out for a proper drive today- 226 miles on some of the most fun roads in Scotland- so much more fun than driving on the motorway!

Needless to say it ran faultlessly, and did the full run on less than 1/2 a tank. Passed a fair few of the "40 mph everywhere" brigade toosmile

Had one of these as my first car, did the same mpg everywhere it went, no matter how I drove it hehe
This one seems to do anywhere between 40-53mpg..

If I'm careful round town it does 48.

I think it was in its natural speed zone yesterday- about 60mph seems to be magic

We're about 160 miles into the 50/50 tank, and the car is running well- even seems ok starting in the morning!

Today the Polo did a remarkable impersonation of a battery charger to help revive a mate's car..

Still on the same tank of 50%veg!

Had a fair run at the less than pristine bodywork on her today-made a good bit of progress, and got some stuff done on other fleet members too!

This Little cracker has now left the fleet after 4000 miles at an average of 47.93 mpg

Super cheap servicing and no ill effects of running on a 50% veg mix- I'd have another!

You can read of it's departure here:
