These pictures were taken about 10 minuets after the misfire started, on the way into to Cars & Coffee Liverpool. The timing of the electrical fault was impeccable, it started just as a Scuderia had joined me, popping away in-front of me playfully and my little Elise was stinking of unburned fuel and chugging! laugh

I have few jobs to do through the winter, one of them was to get some spoiler blocks. These were standard on the S160 and allegedly an optional extra on the 111s. They do make the spoiler look that touch higher and make the car look a little more aggressive... I think so anyway. They also make cleaning under the spoiler easier as at the moment I have to 'floss' it with a microfibre cloth!

I received them from Elise-Shop in less than 24 hrs of ordering, supplied with longer S/S bolts and rubber contact padding. Very impressive service!

A day later and a friend had prep'd and sprayed them.

Now they are back, really pleased with them.

I will fit them at some point in the next few weeks, it's an easy job (apparently) but first the car is getting the first part of it's winter protection in the form of a few coats of Collinite 476.

An enjoyable afternoon on Saturday of claying and putting a nice double coat of Collinite 476. One of them jobs that is rewarding once finished and you can daydream the day away.

Really impressed with the 476 and I'm led to believe it's very durable. Can't see the Elise going on any Winter trips to Snowdonia but it will still be used to give it an airing on dry days, so little extra protection on the paint wan't do any harm. As is the S1 one trend, the roof will be off when used in the winter too driving

What a lovely 111s.

I hadn't realised, but I sold you the Janspeed. Great job cleaning it up!

Simply gorgeous that. Really love the S1s and you have a fine example - congrats.

Doing worrying things to my bank manager's blood pressure...

Thanks and thanks again for the Janspeed thumbup I love doing little jobs on the Elise, I find it very rewarding.

Your K20 S1 looks nice and a good spec, I don't think I could Honda the 111s, I think the K-Series 111s are worth keeping standard(ish)... but I could be tempted to do a project using a non-limited edition S1 or early S2.

I have had a couple of V-Tec Honda's and know what a fantastic engine the K20 is, a go of or a pax ride in a K20 Elise could prove costly to me!

Thank you, not sure if this will help but they are appreciating and cost less than a new boggo Fiesta wink

Heh. Well I'm glad to see it being enjoyed as intended. I must confess to a mildly sacrilegious longing for a K20 powered S1... Not sure I should be allowed one on that basis of those impure thoughts ;-)

Today's unfeasibly warm weather let me have some Winter time out in the Elise on dry, unsalted roads.

My Elise now has the S160 spoiler blocks fitted, pleased with how they look. Fitting took a bit longer than expected with some OCD time spent trimming the neoprene pads to suit.

I have also been sent a sample of dodo juice future armour spray sealant. So far so good, the beading and finish is not what I'm used to as in not similar to the beading off a wax. However it goes on really quick after a clean and like most dodo juice products smells good!

Finally the spoiler blocks also allow me to at last clean under the thing, rather than it being a no man's land of water marks, dust and a few dead flies!

I tried Collinite after your recommendation Mark, not used it on the Elise yet (although I drove it the other day for the first time in months!!) but it looks good on the ZT. Beads nicely.

A good top up wax to try is Autoglym Aqua Wax, works well after a clean and is so easy to use.

Are those the same spoiler blocks that are used on the Sport 160?

Good to hear you aired the Elise out, mine has not been used for a while either seeing as it's been monsoon season!

Collinite impressed me, glad it was ok on the ZT. I concentrated on the sound on your tunnel run video more than the paint, impressive noise that thing makes. Top daily! clap

Yes, the blocks are 160 ones, apparently an optional extra on later 111s' although I don't recall seeing any with them, not that there are many about to compare.

Cheers for the AG shout, will give it a go I have used the dodo juice sample now.

If I had the time I honestly would, I enjoy it. Not sure if it's the actual cleaning I enjoy the or the peace and quiet I get for a few hours though!

Cheers for the kind comment too beer

It's not a daily, it's another toy biggrin however I seem to sort of have permission, maybe, from SWMBO to sell both the ZT and Elise and buy an Evora...it's certainly one to think about! I've convinced her it's practical with four seats...

My 111S doesn't have the blocks-can't say I've seen any with them either. Thought it was just a S160 thing.

Interesting, I love Evoras especially the new 400. I don't think I could get another nice car as a daily though, the thought of leaving it on car parks with all the inconsiderate tcensoredts we have to share the roads with would annoy me!

Good work on the convincing/mind trick on the OH though thumbup

The Elise had a 100+ mile run out to a soggy, winter sun lit EVO triangle this morning. Considering the roads were so dry on the run into Wales the Denbigh moors had held the rain water like a sponge, it made for some 'fun' driving!

This was the cars first proper shake down since the electrical problems, all seemed well and the Italian tune-up was probably a little overdue driving

Hopefully spring is on its way, quite dry this morning but still gritty from all the rain.

Got a few bits for the Elise, '111s' decals for above the side indicators and new clear stone guards. Both jobs for when it gets a bit warmer. The rear diffuser is due a refurb too as it looks a bit sorry for its self compared with the rest of the car, that will be getting done in the next week or two.

I have also got a new mount for the camera, with a few little mods it should clamp well on to the tow post. I shall be giving it a go when next in Wales; hopefully soon as winter is getting a bit boring now!

I have started getting the car ready for spring, hopefully the car will be driven on dry days rather than doing little jobs... that's the plan anyway.

First was to reattach the rear view mirror that I knocked off when cleaning the inside of the screen. Having had past experience if using sticky pads I opted to go for glue as the pads are crap!

Holding the mirror made me realise how big the thing is for such a small car, this has prompted me to order a smaller one after some searches on SELOC.

Next up was to put some '111s' decals on that I had made-up earlier in the year, they match the ones on the rear and dash. Took a bit of time, swearing, a spirit level and a set square but I got them on straight. They were then sealed over with some collinite after I had degreased the area to stick them.

Next jobs to do are to clean and polish the rear diffuser at the exposed edges where grime/oxidisation has made its mark. The wheels will be coming off for a rim clean and seal, whilst they are off the suspensions will get a clean and re-grease too.

A 111s (faux carbon) radio blank came up on ebay, these things are like rocking horse scensoredt so I contacted the seller and came to a deal. This means the radio will be out next week. The radio is pretty much useless in my 111s. The car doesn't get used to go to the shops in, on a motorway the short-box means it's high in the revs at 70 mph and when out for a drive I want to listen to the car...Oh... shout and the exhaust is loud!

Finally the big belt service (C-Service) is due, so is booked in for the back end of April at Phoenix.

Looking forward to the warm weather now driving

Absolutely love this thread. It's what owning and driving a Lotus is all about!

You've inspired me to take mine off its trickle charge and take it out for a blast!
