Don't worry about the smoke..... It will go once you start to use it more. I think some of the oil separates out of the fuel in the crank case over time so that when you start driving it you stir it up!? If that makes sense....mine took several journeys to clear. They don't seem to like dirty plugs or expensive synthetic oil either...
Interested in RHD headlights.... Where did you find these? I am still using beam correctors....
Well done on the rebuild!!

The ones we used I ordered up for the Defender but I didn't need them in the end. Even the adjuster tabs all lined up, dead easy fit.

A small festive update while I wait for various family members to rearrange themselves about the district for the next part of the great Christmas meet & greet!
I have been tasked with making our wheels look less horrible. No small task...
They aren't brilliant. So I wire brushed them to get the surface rubbish off, leaving:
They were then degreased and rust converted and given a couple of coats of etch primer, leaving this:
This actually looks a lot better than it was. But its a start at least, and was then given 3 coats of filler primer. The aim was to get the wheels looking decent, but without spending a fortune and wasting days. So that left this:
Which was then flatted back and painted and lacquered. I confess, I am very pleased with how the first one has come out. Just three more to go now...!
So there you are. Slow progress still being made with this lovely vehicle...

Those wheels look bloody brilliant.
Next time I buy steelers for winter, those are what I need.
Cheers. The paint and lacquer is E-Tech. I've never used their products before, but I've been impressed so far. Very easy to apply and get a decent finish. Next time I buy steelers for winter, those are what I need.
