Brilliant thread and effort.

Perhaps a silly question, how did you 'paint' the letters? Is it a sticker or actual paint or something else entirely?
Its just a white oil-base marker. If you eBay tyre pen or similar, then it'll come up. How long it will last is debatable, but we shall see!

It make me chuckle slightly, so kind of worth it...

Lewis. Turbo'd TVR??? Where is the thread?
Here you go Scott. I thought retrorides would be more suitable as I feared a PH lynching after sticking the screamer pipe out of the bonnet hehe

Another couple of pictures, though not particularly exciting ones...

Quite pleasing having it back on its wheels. And what a magnificent car it is too!

We also started it in the garage. This next pic was taken a good 10 minutes after we switched it off again. A nice clean runner!

Well she is now MOT ready!

I spent the last week doing the final small jobs whilst Jon finished the other wheels.

I put new rubbers in the wipers, double checked all the electrics, rebuilt the fuel tap (again) and sorted out the sticky throttle.

Insurance to sort out and then gotta find some time to get the MOT booked in!

Well it failed on one point - The rear fog light was on the wrong side of the car hehe

All fixed now but can't get a partial retest until Saturday, at least its a big weight off our minds!

It was great fun driving to the MOT station and back. It actually drives a lot better than I was expecting, and am really looking forward to the registration being completed now.

Have some celebratory pictures, smoke and noise tongue out (you can blame Jon for the green trim hehe)

Two stroke exempt, I believe.

Mine is due its first proper MOT this month... I know it won't pass, as the MOT used to register it was of the not quite legitimate variety.

Definitely needs the brakes sorting all around. I'm a little concerned about a the box section crossmember under the front floorpans, too.

No time to sort it myself, so I'll hopefully persuade my local trusted mechanic to give it a go. He needs to give all the nipples a good greasing whilst it's up on the ramp, too. And straighten the steering wheel - whoever did the tracking in Hungary must have been on the strongest potato vodka at the time.

Once the MOT is done, I'll sort out the points and timing - one of the 'pingfkit' advance springs made an escape bid, so I got a new one. And I'm not happy with the points currently on it.

2strokes are exempt from emissions tests, you'll be glad to know. I suggest a sea anchor or drogue for the rest.

(meanwhile I do wonder what stoichiometric ratio is for potato:air ...)

It passed!

Registration documents promptly filled out and sent off. Hopefully the DVLA won't put up much of a fight.

Took some celebratory pics on the way home. It couldn't be in a more out of place setting hehe

Excellent! Congrats on the MOT pass. The car's looking amazing, I reckon they look better with a slightly aged look to the bodywork.

I finally got around to ordering the suspension for mine, going to fit it all next week at somepoint!

There are a couple of guides online for filling out the registration document - I used one I found on a VW T2 site. You don't need many details at all to register a Trabi.

I assume you've done the NOVA declaration? - I know a couple of people who forgot that bit and had everything bounced by the DVLA.

Well done.... good luck with the registration.

I notice that you have a split side panel. I have a spare you are welcome to have if want. It's even the right colour I think!!

Quality thread lads, thanks for putting it up. Really entertaining and nice to see such graft going into something other than a spitfire or mgb.

It's good, I aalmost resisted the internet urge to take the poiss. The thing is, once something has been seen, it can't be unseen...

I'll not lie, that picture made me sad... Happily, I am quite resilient in my delusions, and I've now convinced myself it was just a bad angle!
