That looks immense!
Like a lot of Merkan cars the packaging is terrible. They're like the tardis in reverse: Huge on the outside and surprisingly cramped on the inside.

(on the positive side the spares tend to be reasonably priced and they're much easier to fix than Europeans).

That dashboard pic showed "Intake Air Temperature" at 47 degC.

The damn country is uninhabitable.

Strange that one as the outside temp was 26c but I was in an underground car park at the time!

Wouldn't say its uninhabitable. Its around 18c through the day at the moment, but yes in the summer it can get past 50c.

Cooler here!

thank goodness they embedded the screen into the dash rather then chucking it ontop like many premium german manufacturers.

Time for an overdue update, albeit a tad boring!

The car is creeping up to 2 years old now, and still its a pleasure to own and drive. Its now covered just over 45,000km and apart from a leaky front shock identified last year by dodge, its had 0 issues. Not only that, its cost me very little during that time other than the regular 5,000km service and fuel. The 5,000km service intervals are still too keen in my mind but at least I know its getting fresh oil each time and is kept tip top.

More unbelievably, the tires are still original and the last report suggested they are still good yet! From the drivers seat though, I can definitely feel the need to refresh in the not too distant future. The discs and pads are also still reported to be fine, so perhaps I'm not trying hard enough!

Its hard to say what the future will hold for the charger. It is advertised for sale as something different is on my mind, but I'm in no rush to let her go for a "special price". If a hassle free buyer pops up, then it may be time to say goodbye but in the meantime I will continue to enjoy the ownership. With the warranty coming to a close soon, it could be a good chance to spice things up with a Borla exhaust and a few other choice parts but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks

That intimidating-looking front end has so much more presence than the more recent facelift, which looks rather tame even on the Hellcat. If I was a Hellcat owner, I'd be looking to swap on the older nose if possible...

Yeah I see your point. I think it can be quite colour specific, and some days I prefer one and then the other.

The facelift on a whole looks cleaner and much more modern, but its lost some aggressiveness.

Dropping by to update.

Car is still going strong no big dramas. Just goes about its work of providing me a comfortable mile muncher with some fun thrown in for good measure.

Its now approaching 60,000km and I finally had to give in and replace the tires. One of the the front's badly deteriorated (see pic) which looks like it was more an alignment issue. All others were acceptable, but I took the plunge and replaced all 4 with Dunlop SP Maxx 050 along with alignment. The rubber ain't world beaters, but in this warm climate they cope well and the price wasn't too bad either. 245 / 45 / R20's coming in at £471 all in.

Other than the tyres, I had a noisy cooling fan replaced under warranty and I have a new door hinge to go on soon to fix the clunky drivers door.

Interior and exterior is holding up well to the harsh conditions. The interior barely looks worn at although its a bit basic and "yank" style, I can't have any complaints. The front end of the exterior is doing ok, but some areas are starting to show the weekly sandblast scars. I recently gave it a good old clay bar, detail, polish and wax, paying attention to the front. Its come up really well (as the pics show) but being picky, I'd go in for a front end respray if I was keeping the car.

On that note, its still up for sale but in all honesty I have over priced it a smidge and will stay that way. Its now generating some interest, but its not an urgent sale and it'll go when its good and ready.

Onto some pics!

I own the 2016 version of the same model. Dodge calls it the Charger SRT 392 now, though.

Although the Charger had a slight facelift across all models in 2015, it is still largely the same car. Biggest improvements for the 392 include a bump up to 485 bhp and the inclusion of a beautifully smooth 8 speed automatic transmission.

They're uncommon everywhere, though. Only 1200 were made for the 2016 model year (globally).

Yes. They are roomy and CAN be driven quite tamlely, making them very nice daily drivers and great family cars. Give them a little more gas, though, and their sheer ferociousness can scare the living daylights out of passengers of all ages.

Nice to see what folks on the other side of the pond are saying about these cars, btw.

Looks lovely that! I do like the face lift model. They've done a good job of modernizing without loosing its current identity.

I test drove a Daytona around a month ago. As standard it sounded better than mine, and there is no doubt the gearbox is better, but it was never hard to improve on a merc gearbox that's probably over a decade old.

Small update -

Car recently had the drivers door hinges (upper and lower) replaced due to some clunking going on. I think maybe sand has found its way inside the hinge internals and its dried up.

The car went to Dodge again for this work to be done, and this time I've been left disappointed by their work. Perhaps I'm expecting too much but the bolts that attach the hinge to the door now look pretty ragged. I know its only finer details, but anyone with a keen eye will be able spot they've been off and its had some form of work (not best when I come to sell). I moaned about this to the service rep but she palmed it off like it was perfectly normal and there are no issues (the joy of customer service during Ramadan).

Anyway, I checked the operation of the door, hoped in and drove straight home. Upon returning home, I get out of the car and walk down the passenger side to get into the house. Upon doing so, I notice a good old long scratch down the passenger wing furious!!! This certainly wasn't there when I dropped the car off (condition sheet was marked and signed off) but it was suddenly there now and realistically can only have happened whilst with them, as I made no stops on my way home from the service center. I'm totally kicking myself for not doing a full walk around when collecting the car, and predictably, Dodge are refusing to accept responsibility (to be expected, with no proof either way). They did give the area a polish to see if it'll come out, and although its improved, its still there.

I have a gut feeling it happened when they cleaned it following the work. I usually ask them to not to clean it as I've noticed a few swirls appear from this particular service center in the past, but on this occasion forgot.

After some further moaning I've agreed to take it back to the service manager for further inspection. The scratch is moderately deep,so I'm not sure how it'll be tackled but hoping it can be resolved soon.

Other than this debacle, the car is still a joy and a great work horse! Highly recommend them!

Well 33 months in and all is well.

STILL amazingly on original discs and pads, but the latter I will replace soon and the former as still in good shape (may get the skimmed though).

I knew when I bought this car that I'd be asking questions about it's quality in the long term, but so far so good. It's not made of the nicest materials but its been totally robust and still looks fresh. Externally, the paint is holding up to desert conditions well but may need to go in for a machine polish and some decent paint protection.

I'm still looking to move the car on due to increased mileage with work, but the market here seems dead at the moment for used cars and I'm only attracting chancers.

Came across an annoying glitch with playing USB media though. No matter how I setup my drive, the entertainment system only reads 2973 tracks from 8000+ available. I believe its some quirk with how many folders it can read, so I will need to investigate. It's hardly a big deal, but you'd be surprised how quickly songs repeat themselves when on a shuffle play.

When she finally goes, I will be truly sad. Been a great companion!

Great thread and lovely motor! Awesome colour.

I am also living in Dubai, been here 5 years and own a Charger SRT (2013 model). I have just hit the 100K on mine, so just out of the extended warranty period. I was looking for a car that i could use for the school drop off, and then allow me a little fun afterwards smile And i have to say that so far it has ticked all of the boxes for me. It is a fantastic car and it hasn't missed a beat so far.

I am assuming you have been using Trading Enterprises for your service and maintenance? Which branch do you use? I feel your pain with the scratch, i also had a similar experience after getting some touch ups done to my front bumper.

I have been considering another garage for my maintenance as i am not convinced the dealer provides a better service over here, however in order to not void the warranty i have stuck with them so far. Have you tried anywhere else? Any recommendations?

Did you go for the Borla cat-back exhaust? I have been considering it, but didn't want to pay the dealer price, and was worried that if i went elsewhere i may have issues getting it passed yearly without removing it. The car sounds great as stock, but this just adds a little more!

Pic below of mine. Cheers.

Well time to bring this chapter to a close.

Last week I moved the car on to it's next owner.

I'd owned the car for almost 3yrs and 103,000km. In that time it's been bloody awesome and gave me everything I could of wished for.

The car never missed a beat, and proved 100% reliable.

Unbelievably, it was only on it's second set of tyres and STILL the original discs and pads. Apart from some slight judder they we're still strong.

The new ower is a muscle car nut and currently owns a 700bhp mustang which looks very rude. He's already in love with his new car and is talking SC's and fruity components. Hopefully he'll be along soon to share new updates.

Until then, I draw this to a close. I'll be back with new car information in early January. Very excited about this next motor!
