Lovely cars, but, as already pointed out, hardly a sleeper car.

If you had a Volvo with the same performance as an ST then you're on the money!
Agreed, people may not expect it to be that fast but they will expect it to be fast. It's the same story with my 360bhp+ Impreza, it takes people by surprise about how fast it is but everyone expects it to be a quick.

I also agree with the op going for 300bhp since the car can't handle much more. I went out in a 330bhp ST and traction was a pretty big problem and that was in the dry.

Focus ST is like a V8 on economy, standard car just doesn't offer the performance to match it's fuel use.
Tell me about it. Ave 21mpg over 3 years
I get 20mpg from a 4.2 litre V8.

It was on good tyres and running on aftermarket suspension, no idea about diff. He spent an astonishing amount of money on the car.

When driving it and feeding the power in the car wasn't too bad but trying to apply a lot of power quickly was a problem which didn't come as too much of a surprise given its front wheel drive.

Change the side badges. I fitted these.

MPG was rubbish. My V8 was better.

Any opinions welcome.
If you haven't already, better brakes? Seems pointless making it go fast in a straight line if it is still running the standard brakes.

Yeh,i have upgraded the brakes, grooved discs with a better pad compound.
Unsure whether to go stage 1 or stage 2 with the remap?

What are the differences between stage 1 and stage 2?

Stage 1 is a standard car,circa 50 hp.
Stage 2 is a car with exhaust and intake which I have, circa 64 hp.
As I said 300 bhp is the target.

I'd do the intercooler in conjunction with the remap. Can see the car pulling timing due to intake temps if you don't.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds like Stage 2 is the way to go (prepare to get a new clutch hehe)

You wont get anywhere near a safe 300hp without changing the intercooler.

I used the Pro Alloy. Seemed fine at the power levels you plan.

I know it's mainly to lower intake temps but any difference in the way it drove?

Jeez those IC's are pricey!!!

Do any focus guys use the Chinese IC's off ebay? I've had a couple now and coped fine with around 480hp in the last Saab. £80 for the IC & around £60 for pipework last time wink

Wow 480 bhp.
I know those universal ones are a fraction of the cost but they must be a nightmare to fit?

The first one was for my old Saab 9000 Aero, took the guys around 2 hours to fit but would have been quicker as I forgot a 3" joiner so they had to faff around here.

Honestly it was great, I had a expensive Abbott Racing IC on there before that and this got heat soaked with the GT30 after 2 or 3 WOT pulls, the ebay one used to get 7/8/9 continuous pulls and didn't break a sweat.

I've bought a Chinese Evo one for my Saab 9-3, this ones pretty much a drop in fit though, it's nice & thick at 90mm so should easily cope with the cars planned power. Should be pretty close to 400hp smile
