Had the focus since August last year and I've started to get the itch to get the power up a bit.
The main thing I wanted to do was increase the power but try and keep it looking as standard as possible.
First thing on my list was to put on a 3 inch decat with spacer for the lambda sensor, once this was on and the popping and banging started I had to complete the exhaust set up,I went for a 3 inch downpipe with a 3 inch centre box delete with standard back box to keep it looking stock.
Next up was a group a pipercross air filter replacement.
Wasn't too happy the way it was boosting so went for a boost pressure control solenoid and an uprated re circulation valve which goes from the spring/diagraphm to piston type and a set of rs plugs.
It boosts very very strongly now and the noise from the thing is emmense.
Next up is a remapp, increase boost pressure and see were we are then.
May have to uprate the clutch to the rs type if it starts slipping, but worry about that at the time.
Tons of upgrades for these things so looks like I could be spending a fair bit more money in the next few months.
Any opinions welcome.

Focus ST is like a V8 on economy, standard car just doesn't offer the performance to match it's fuel use.

Had a brief discussion on here a while back and the car gets pretty good fuel economy.
Didn't buy it for mpg though.

So what's the plan?

Is it standard at the moment?

I think you need to make it look like this...

That would be funny,300 bhp in something that looks like that.

Easy. Induction kit, intercooler, RS clutch and a stage 2 map. RS injectors and a sports car will see you just.over that.

I've known 3 or 4 people who've had or still have them in various states of tune from standard to nigh on 400bhp. It seems that no matter what power you run they still do 19-21 mpg unless you're sat on the motorway hehe

I did, but not the edits...

Given the OE inter cooler is barely up to the job, get that replaced.

With the above mods I have already done and a map 280 maybe?
Cooler will be after map.

even with 300bhp this is hardly a sleeper. Most vxr's sts and the like are running big power nowadays and hardly has under the radar looks.

Fair enough, but most modded hot hatches are 3 door and barely off the ground.
Subtle/sleeper enough for me.

Have you looked at having the block mod done?

How much power/torque can these take on standard internals?

Hardly a sleeper though as we all know these ST's can shift wink

Sleeper, you'd need to ditch the ST kit & wheels, swap for poverty spec bumpers & steelies then go for some decent power/torque smile

Which, is, of course bks (without being too confrontational smile) in terms of being an absolute truism. They and you may well have got that, but would question what you're doing to get that, as I always do.

I sit on a lot of motorways & local roads, often at the heady heights of 5-10 mph (in the morning), or 70 (always wink) in the evening and can't get anywhere near 19-21 over more than a few miles. Try 26 - 30.

Std car, lorra lorra miles.

OP - If you want a real sleeper, take off all of the ST bits and add some tuning. Wouldn't spend big money on it though as there are better sleeper start points out there.

Lovely cars, but, as already pointed out, hardly a sleeper car.

If you had a Volvo with the same performance as an ST then you're on the money!
