Looks great.

I’m about to buy some coilovers for my R53 in the next few weeks.

I was originally going to get some ST-XTAs but I’ve just spent today reading up on the MeisterRs then stumbled across you thread by chance.

How do you find them?
Also where did you use the remote adjusters for the rears? Do they come up through the body?

MeisterRs are a great improvement over the standard suspension i had, do still find them a bit of a hard ride on uneven roads even on soft setting tho but can put up with that as the car now handles like a go kart smile

The rear adjustors on mine come through the two rear compartments either side in the boot.

Cheers, Think I might get some. I like the way you can adjust the ride height without changing the preloads.

Would you say they were a harder than the normal shocks?
Did you have to cut holes Forthe Adjusters?
Not an issue if you do, I haven’t had a chance to look round mine yet.

Anyway enough questions from me, any more plans for it?

No the shocks are not as hard as the standard ones and can be adjusted to suit what you want from the car, mine are currently about 12 clicks from soft and find thats a good balance.

Not sure if you have to drill holes for the adjusters, I had a garage fit them for me.

Dont really have any plans for car at the moment, maybe a new exhaust next, have a holiday to Cornwall next month so hopefully find some good roads to drive biggrin

Great thread.

I’ve just put down a deposit on a late model R53. Pick it up on Thursday... can’t wait.

I fitted a non resonated Milltek to mine last month and it sounds great.

It’s settled down a little now and isn’t as raspy (that was the first start)

Was actually watching some vids earlier of the Miltek exhausts, was wondering how loud the Non resonated was versus the resonated, think the non resonated sounded beter.

Sussex road & race who work on my car can get Miltek or Quicksilver exhausts so probably be one of them.

Non res may be fine until you decat it, the Miltek also drones on motorways somewhat, but better than the cheaper jobs, the JCW is the best overall and will pass noise tests without a cat. It is completely drone free. Whatever exhaust you fit make sure the centre bump stop has clearance above and below. I believe some people think this is a mount and it isn't. Just my2p.

Drilling the holes for the adjuster............when you remove the damper, if you look through the hole the top mount passes through, directly above you'll see a 10mm hole in the chassis which is blocked/obscured by a panel above it, this is the car interior and needs drilling through for the adjusters to fit. Be careful of the rear looms that pass over this part of the chassis, if you're good with drilling shallow you may be ok, best stick a rolled up cloth beneath the loom from the inside of the car really.

These coilovers tend to have adjusters biased to rebound more than compression, so while a soft setting adds a little more comfort, crossing a depression in the road at speed will likely reveal excessive rebound, personally I would judge the setting you choose on this rather than initial comfort.

Hope that makes sense,

Engine light came on early last week even though car was driving fine, took it to garage and came up as Low Cat performance, luckily they had a second hand genuine cat from a low mileage car I could have for cheap so wasnt too bad.

Also had to have 2 new front tyres and had a small hole in exhaust so had to have that welded up.

Going to get a new exhaust for it now as this is the second time I've had to have it welded up, will most likely get a new one after its MOT in May.

Thread like these keep my thinking I should go back to a R53 again and sell the E46 convertible. The missus wont drive the E46 but loved the R53 and its only a second car so would make sense. Keeping wondering why i got rid of the previous one??

Cant remember the size off hand, it was a small bottle so probably 15ml, probably still have enough to do the arches a couple more times.

Not done too much with car lately as now have a work van to commute in so only get to drive it weekends.

Car had to have a new Wheel Bearing last week as had become really noisy and was annoying me, also had to have a new CV boot while there.

Yesterday car passed its MOT thumbup

Hoping to buy a new exhaust for it around June time, probably a Miltek Non Resonated one.

Not yet no, I brought another unplanned project instead biggrin

Still going to get the exhaust but will have to wait till funds allow now.

Gave the Mini a good clay bar and waxing the other day to get it ready for the crap weather ahead, am heading up to the peak district beginning of October, so hoping to have some fun in the car then driving
