Am keeping the silver R109 wheels that are currently on the car but they need a refurb really as have lacquer peel and lots of marks on them, gonna cost a bit to get them done as there 2pc split rims, new wheels are in a lot better condition, would of preferred them in silver but they dont come up for sale that often other than people trying to sell them for £800 - £900 on ebay!!

Gonna sell the Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels as dont need 3 lots of wheels smile

Have heard good things about the Avons so some Avon ZZ5 tyres where fitted to the new wheels today, decided to get all 4 tyres changed so they all matched, will see how they perform on the car smile

Update -

Had a loud noise noise from the front wheels so had it looked at and the wheel bearing was shot so had to get a new front drivers side hub, all sorted now.

More interestingly i've joined a group buy for some MeisterR Zeta CRD+ coilovers, had MeisterR coilovers on my last car and where great so thought i'd try them on the Mini, should be a great improvement over the standard suspension, hoprfully have them June time, cant wait biggrin

Have had a few faults with the car lately, first was on its MOT day, battery was dead when I tried starting it so had to get that changed, after that it flew through its MOT with no advisories biggrin

Lately car has occasionally been struggling on acelleration, when it would get to 3k rpm it would lose power and either sort itself out and just carry on normally or put it into limp mode and throw up some fault codes. Reading it could be a number of problems online I was expecting the worst but turned out to be just the Manifold Pressure Sensor, so £107 later and it's all sorted and acceleration seems a lot better than it's ever been smile

That looks really smart, the colour combinations of pepper white paint, black roof and alloys and rear tints really work together. Not overly keen on the black stripes, I'd probably had the air intake scoop carbon and added a couple of front spot lights instead.

Fond memories of my old one, the R53 design is much better than the proceeding variants.

Cheers, agree on the R53 being the best looking and not just saying that as I own one. Opposite to you, I like the stripes and got rid of the Spotlights that were on it, has the Carbon scoop tho biggrin

Gave the car a wash today and got round to trying some Gtechniq C4 I brought to try and bring up the black plastic trim round the car, was recommended it and although quiet expensive for a small bottle has given great results, best product i've used on car trim and would recommend it too, the results -

and a random pic from Brands Hatch carpark in good company, a Porsche GT3 and Honda NSX smile

Looks good, what size did you go for? I tried Poor Boys and it was a lot better than Autoglym (which made a right mess of my trim) & Meguiars.

Havn't updated this in a while, MeisterR Coilover group buy didnt go ahead like planned so still on the Mini Sports Supsension, thinking of selling the car maybe next year sometime so decided not to invest lots of money in it so no new suspension now.

Done a couple small bits to the car, have been missing a bolt on the Intercooler cover for a while so finally got round to fitting some new Stainless Steel ones with some thread lock on them, so hopefully wont come out again, also gave the cover a good clean while off.

Also got myself a JCW Carbon Gearknob and Handbrake handle, gearknob is so much nicer than the old chrome round one smile

Not got much else more planned for it at the moment, have some chilli red brake paint to do the rear calipers, to match the fronts, when I have time to do them.

A colleague of mine had one of these...

Swift, pointy & that addictive noise.

For me the car really lacked a decent pair of seats though- they felt like you sat atop them & slid about as opposed to a hugging pair of Recaros

Shame about your reliability woes.

Yeah noise is addictive biggrin

Seats in mine aren't too bad, don't know if they changed them on the facelift model or not, would love some of the JCW seats but usually go for around £1000!

Reliability hasn't been two bad really, in two years only had a leak from the coolant bottle (known fault on these cars), a new Timing chain (down to last owner not topping the oil up regularly) and a throttle position sensor.

Don't see many fJCW R53's, didn't do that many IIRC, they have a LSD don't they? Yours looks a good one, really like it, crying out for some JCW Recaro's but they are mega mega money.
