Out of interest, how does it compare to the Cossie?

They're both laggy lol. The Cossie felt more raw, which it would do, felt a lot more "special". Both cars are involving which is what I like, though the steering in the Cossie felt better. The 4 pot brakes on the Cossie are better too.

They're fairly similar, but the Mazda feels like a Mazda. I never really felt like I was driving a Sierra Sapphire when I had my Cossie.

I was thinking to modify a sticker to read 'Zom Zooom'

Zoom Zoom Boom is more appropriate! These dont like to accelerate from low RPM's, especially in low gears, it can bend the a rod or two.

lol. This was over 220 miles, 190 being A road and motorway, the rest being local driving. Its similar to my M5, but I reckon it'll be better than my M5 once I have a few bits and bats sorted with it!

I'm averaging 22.2mpg in my CX-7 with pretty much the same engine.

Love my CX and if I were going for another saloon i'd definitely look into a 6 MPS.

I'm starting to gel with it now. The clutch is taking some getting used to as it a little bit of a sensitive soul.

Always liked these, even test drove one while buying my last car but it was a bit of a dog so put me off.
Wish they had done an estate version.
Friend of mine has one that he is currently modding. he is looking for 400-450bhp

I know how you felt, I looked at a few that were pretty doggy.

He should be going for Forged internals then if he is going for 400+ BHP as the torque with that will be a bit too much for the standard rods. Who is he going to get to tune it?

Do you know if yours has had the mod or not?

Depending on when exactly it was built it may have had it done at the factory:

Feb. 21, 2006 - Improved clutch pedal characteristics.
May 26, 2006 - Improved clutch cover release load characteristic.
July 1, 2006 - Improved clutch disc cushion deflection.

I'm not a fan of the clutch in ours, it's a bit all or nothing but then ours is an 2005 car so would have been one of the first and I don't know if it's been done.

Yeah forged internals bigger turbo etc etc, engine has been out of the car being built for a while now. Not sure on exact spec or who is going to be mapping it.

My car is a September 2006, but like yours it is kind of all or nothing really.

Nice biggrin. If he isnt already, he should pop onto mpsowners.co.uk and contact DJJUT (Justin). He is the man to talk to about mapping these.

Congrats on finally finding one! Always liked the red.
Saw a couple of your posts over on MPSOC and noticed your not too far from me so will keep an eye out.

I'm managing to get 21-22mpg around town so your figures seem about right :s

There are quite a few running over this power Level on standard transmission without issue.
