I meant what kind of cost are you up for?
New vvt is around £300 from the usa, fitting is around £200, plus 8 hour drive and fuel cost, potential over night stay. It's not the money aspect that annoys me, it's that I am in no position to get it done for ages and may lose use of the car. I am waiting to get a proper cold start video of it to send to the guy who replaces the system in his sleep before properly condemning it. Had a fairly st day and getting more stressed about my impending operation so I may take things a little out of context Google [bot] said:
That's good news for me too, I've been getting paranoid since your post. Mine appears to sound fine, but after a few years of V6&8s only it sounds what I would call thrashy. It's easy to hear fear, and the youtube clips shed little light.
Thanks Andburg!Google, I'll link my good video to this thread and a bad video to it. You can tell the difference, I was just being paranoid after a bad day
Boost, oil temp and oil pressure gauges arrived yesterday, as did the obd interface for being able to remap the car. Just looks a shame that I may not get to use them after a an op I had yesterday to try and fix a hearing issue I have does not seem to have worked so the car may have to be sold.

Sorry to hear that! no pun intended.
must be bad if hearing prevents you from driving
Thanks. It is. I can't be around loud noises or anything that makes a thud, rattle or booms. The gf closing the lid on the bin in the kitchen while im upstairs cuts me half. Most people wouldn't be able to hear something like that. I feel the sound as well on my ear drum and inside my ear. Also hear my own heart beat in my ear. It's all driving me mad. I was better off before my op!must be bad if hearing prevents you from driving
I'm trying to keep my spirits high. Ive lived with some of these symptoms for 18 years buts gotten worse in the last 4. This is my fourth operation but the least successful.
Ears are plugged but noise still gets through. Even the aeroplane flying near my house as I type this is bouncing around in my ear.
I guess the best way to describe it is like a constant reverb

thinking of your health....drive both with a decibel meter?
Given your hearing I'd be looking to find the quietest performance car possible1
That is a consideration, though I was a passenger in my gf's Twingo RS 133 last night and managed ok in that, and if you've ever been in one, you'd know how noisy they are, especially with cup suspension!Given your hearing I'd be looking to find the quietest performance car possible1

Think its just that platform the wind was based on the twingo which if iirc is a stiffened up gen 2 clio so pretty archaic really!
I had an 09 Laguna coupe at the time and that was another world!
I think the Twingo handles pretty well all things considered. This one is quite easy to throw around and doesn't roll much. It is not comfy for long distance driving though! The drivers seat does not go back far enough for someone of average height (5ft10) so I drive it with knees very bent, and when you're driving back from Amsterdam to Aylesbury in it in one day, that equals a day of pain lol.I had an 09 Laguna coupe at the time and that was another world!
I guess the Laguna was quiet?

Yeah the wind was like a roller skate on rails, great fun but terrible for any sort of distance and it shuddered over every bump in the road.
Laguna was lovely and quiet, smooth ride but a little harsh on broken B roads. 4 wheel steer made it feel much nimbler than you expect from such a big car too!
Ha, what is it about little French cars and shuddering over bumps!Laguna was lovely and quiet, smooth ride but a little harsh on broken B roads. 4 wheel steer made it feel much nimbler than you expect from such a big car too!
Im surprised the Laguna didnt break haha

I honestly read that as "but ex girlfriend had wind and that was pretty noisy..."I was thinking to myself as I read it; "was your ex an elephant?!'
