Related, such a lovely snappy little short-shift on these.

Mine has a short shift plate installed so the throw is very short.

My turbosmart bpv, new plugs, new chrome indicator bulbs and lower door mps stripes arrived today.

Also ordered 20 litres of oil in Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 flavour.

Nice car. Got a soft spot for these, like the subtlety of them. Handsome looking cars too IMO.

How do you mean? Lol

The VVT controls the cam timing Stoatman (sorry if teaching grandma how to suck eggs), unless you mean what's it doing that makes me think its knackered? If so, then the noise it is making on cold start

Lol no I don't actually know how the system works so don't worry about being patronising . Seems like a common fault and what I've read even inevitable ?

Very common, very inevitable, hence why I bought a car that had it replaced at 57k miles. Car is now on 62k miles which is why I am annoyed as I factored some of the cost into buying the car, lack of hassle etc. It's alot of hassle for me to get it replaced especially as I am back at work tomorrow and then I go into hospital for an op when I get home.

New vvt is around £300 from the usa, fitting is around £200, plus 8 hour drive and fuel cost, potential over night stay. It's not the money aspect that annoys me, it's that I am in no position to get it done for ages and may lose use of the car. I am waiting to get a proper cold start video of it to send to the guy who replaces the system in his sleep before properly condemning it. Had a fairly st day and getting more stressed about my impending operation so I may take things a little out of context

Ill link it to here tomorrow. The kit comes from the usa as it's so much cheaper than getting it here.

Well the good news is that it doesnt look like the VVT is broken - its been listened to and the noise is normal. *phew*

That's good news for me too, I've been getting paranoid since your post. Mine appears to sound fine, but after a few years of V6&8s only it sounds what I would call thrashy. It's easy to hear fear, and the youtube clips shed little light.

Thanks Andburg!

Google, I'll link my good video to this thread and a bad video to it. You can tell the difference, I was just being paranoid after a bad day

Boost, oil temp and oil pressure gauges arrived yesterday, as did the obd interface for being able to remap the car. Just looks a shame that I may not get to use them after a an op I had yesterday to try and fix a hearing issue I have does not seem to have worked so the car may have to be sold.

Thanks. It is. I can't be around loud noises or anything that makes a thud, rattle or booms. The gf closing the lid on the bin in the kitchen while im upstairs cuts me half. Most people wouldn't be able to hear something like that. I feel the sound as well on my ear drum and inside my ear. Also hear my own heart beat in my ear. It's all driving me mad. I was better off before my op!
