Renaultsport 182 Clio
Discussion
After years of reading the forums I'm finally able to make a proper post as I finally have a car of my own. So after a while of driving my parents cars (1.2 Diesel Corsa and 1.9 Vectra) and a fair amount of saving up here I am with a Renaultsport Clio 182! Which, for my age wasn't exactly the cheapest to insure, but that's expected really!
I don't really have any plans for it at the moment. All that's planned is a bit of a headlight clean up as they've become a bit clouded over the years. It's already got a K-Tec exhaust system so that's a box already ticked. So no, just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm going to drop it to the ground! Also this being PH and from reading many a thread I'm sure a large majority will expect it to end up in a bush, but I look forward to proving that wrong! For now I'm just enjoying the freedom that a car brings.

Apparently toothpaste works well on headlights or so I've read.
Ah I haven't heard that. Saw something about using 1200/1500 wet and dry sheets which I'll have a go at using.Forgot to mention it's at 70k mileage so I've got to get the cambelt done soon so that'll halt my spending on it for a bit!
Ah, the dreaded cambelt. I am in the same boat with the my 172. BTM and TCR are two people I have pencilled for doing the job (I am based in Warwick).
Anyway, welcome to the world of RenaultSport. They are fun little things eh? Mine has really grown on me I have to say and like yourself it came with a few boxes ticked which in my mind at least offset the cambelt! Yours possibly looks like an FF unless it just has the Cup spoiler fitted at the rear and not the Cup pack.

Yeah I was thinking of going to BTM.
It's got the cup packs on it. Great fun indeed!
If you are in Southampton there is a fantastic specialist in Portsmouth. Rentech. They did the cambelt and dephaser on my car (which Charltjr now owns). It was about £6-700 but they also gave the car a once over and found a broken spring and a few other bits. Really nice guys and very knowledgeable and fair. Can't recommend enough. It's got the cup packs on it. Great fun indeed!

Fred @ BTM did mine, did a good job and is very easy to arrange pick-up drop off with! He got the train to Leamington and took it off my hands for the weekend, I just had to get a train to solihull and he met me with my car Sent a bank payment from my phone and all was goodAnyway, welcome to the world of RenaultSport. I had a 172cup, looked at the 182 though.
Get it on Cooksport springs, not a big drop and cheap too but will do wonders for the handling.
You'll have a love hate relationship with this car I can guarantee, as long as you're ok with a spanner it will be a nice cheap motor. Very easy to work on too. I managed to change all engine mounts, springs, shocks, top mounts in an afternoon.

Looks pretty tidy! Rear exhaust hangers might need a seeing to.
How old are you?
Yeah, someone on a different forum pointed that out to me. The more I look the more off they seem so that'll be getting a seeing to!How old are you?
About to turn 20 on tuesday!
@kayzee, looks very nice!
@Jonjo91, May well do when my bank account has recovered a bit!

You cannot fault Fred, I once got some brake pads off his that didn't quite fit.. So he drove down from b'ham to Bath to fix them for me for free . Hence I have used him for the clio/megane sports to do all the belts etc. You can put trust in his work for sure.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
