So £1600 later it has a new refurbed box with a 6k miles /6 month warranty.
MoT is out this month and I have a airbag light on, hoping its nothing too major.
Land Rovers really know how the build them don't they! Really annoys me. Airbag light should fail a MOT. There are loads of adverts in the back of the LR mags advertising gearbox rebuilds for L322s, so I'm guessing gearbox failure is fairly common. MoT is out this month and I have a airbag light on, hoping its nothing too major.
I was amazed that you could buy a L322 for £3900, as I thought they had hit bargain basement at £5.5k. Sadly this thread is proof that maybe you shouldn't buy at the bottom of the price bracket
Its early days on the latest RR, but hopefully LR have learned their lessons and are building them properly.
Even after £1600 for a box I'm in for £5500 with a recon box. Better than £5500 with a ropey box as they seem to be online.

Oh I know airbag light will fail mot, getting it fault read and hoping that doesnt come back bad.

That won't be the end though. Expect issues with compressor for the air suspension. Known to be weak and do eventually wear out. Keep an eye out for water ingress too. They leak around the rear 3/4s and cause issues with the electrics. Even after £1600 for a box I'm in for £5500 with a recon box. Better than £5500 with a ropey box as they seem to be online.
Doesn't seem to leak any water at all just now.
Has been a good car except for the gearbox.
Sounds interesting.
Only thing is the car has been in a crash at some point in its life, fairly recently I believe.
Got told its a cat c/d not sure which, never been bothered enough to find out.
The plastic fascia round the base of the drivers seat is smashed and half gone. Where about is the seats airbag?

Interesting car and thread.
Airbag light issue, do what the garage did for my mum, put some electrical tape over the light, still passed.
I just took my bulb out Airbag light issue, do what the garage did for my mum, put some electrical tape over the light, still passed.
Passed the mot with no advisorys and he said its one of the best he's seen turn up of similar vintage. Did look like a tt parked at college amongst all the small cars though haha
Not all is well in Range Rover world.
Air suspension has failed on the front. Flickered on and off a few times while on the motorway. Got in the next morning to various faults related.
Checked bags etc, all fine.
Spare wheel well where the compressed is housed had 2" of water in it. Assuming it's shorted something out.
Dried it out for now and hopefully a mate can sort it tomorrow morning as I'm due in Edinburgh on the 28th.
However had to drive today with the front aired out. Drove slowly and gently while avoiding potholes like they were land mines. Got 47.5 mpg on the trip or about 43/44 reality.

Is that fuel consumption for real? I can't get above 30. ever. In fact I rarely get near that.
Real, was mostly at 50mph behind lorries which greatly helped.I often get 30+, average over 1000 miles from Inverness to Norfolk and back with a trailer then trailer + car on way back was 25.
Dont do alot of town driving, all single track lanes/A roads. Only time I touch motorways is when heading to England, even then I have 100 miles of a 60mph road which skews the average higher. Remapped too of course
Didnt get a chance to get it looked at sadly. Will be 27th now I think.
Wont be used till then so plenty of chance to dry out and fix its self hopefully.

Are you working the fuel consumption out over a full tank or just telling us what the on board computer says?
Not full tanks, its the on board (which when measured compared to full tank real mpg was roughly 8-9% lower than the obc) so I generally trust it, has been checked recently on a 1100 mile trip and was the same % off.Went out today as I had to go to town sadly. Got it turned it on and the air suspension was back alive and well with no problems.
Drove to town did shop etc, drove home through horrendous rain and it failed again.
Assuming theres a fairly decent sized hole somewhere letting in the water.
Atleast im 99% sure its related to this but I may be wrong.
Also ticked over 165k miles

Got it fixed today after delays in getting the sensors. Then problems with lack of the correct tools, mainly my ratchet broke and didnt have the correct size hex bit so bought the halfords professional 200 piece set, reduced from £300 to £135.
Took less than an hour to do them both after I had the hex bit. Mate brought up a diagnostic machine from work and reset the codes, all came back to life. Less than £100 for both sensors to fix it
Did find out theres problems with the front right and rear left parking sensors though. Might fix the rear one but not bothered by the front one.
