That's the after, the rear wasn't touched as they didn't want to get involved with rusty toe adjusters, will get that sorted when I get some new toe arms, also the rear camber is virtually where I want it besides the nearside which could do with a bit more in reality

With my next trip to Germany looming in two weeks time, I set about starting all the little jobs this afternoon to get her ready. Got her up in the air and changed the frankly disgusting brake fluid to some fresh AP Racing 5.1, did the clutch fluid while I was there too for good measure, last photo is her sitting pretty when I took the other half out for a meal tonight smile

Still such a special car, hard to find a good one now simply as they're all so old!

TX.
Amen to that.

Good DC2's are big money and the DC5 is still 10k.....

I miss mine and really wish I handt bought mine wearing the biggest pair of rose tints available.....

Ahh, fair enough. I thought that seemed a bit odd, Elite are very good so I would have been very surprised if they left it like that for no reason.

Lovely Teg.
I owned S694OFR and I had the rear bumper bar painted black - could this be my car? I'd love to hear back if it is.
Absolutely loved driving it and think back on those days of ownership with great fondness.

Well that was a long break! I haven't updated in over a year, mostly due to saving like mad to buy our first house, which I'm sat in writing this message!

Looking back on my last post in this thread it looks like it was just before my last ring trip. For anyone who is interested I managed an 8:33 bridge to gantry, plenty left in it but it was my first time on proper semi-slicks so I was trying to find the limits safely. Still my fastest lap to date, mind!

Most importantly though I managed to justify keeping the DC2 by pretty much not letting it cost anything for the duration of my saving up. One thing I have done since I last posted is dealing with the rust. I have owned the car over 5 years now and getting this sorted at last, especially with being a painter myself, was a huge step towards getting the car how I want it.

I did the underneath of the car first, treating everything properly as I went and gave the underbody a good coat of white Gravi-Tex. Started the bodywork in march of this year, the car was at work with me for 3 weeks whilst the rot was all cut away. I spent all my evenings and weekends at work prepping it all and eventually I painted the car on a Sunday afternoon.

To say I'm happy with it is an understatement! I had over 100 photos from the process so I've picked just a few at various stages to share with you all. Enjoy smile

And here she is, FINALLY in my own garage after almost 2 years of saving up. So happy I didn't sell it! Little photobomb by my Starlet SR daily hack too smile

I have a Trackday booked at snetterton on the 24th, so this weekend I'll be doing the cambelt and tensioner, along with some fresh oil. Won't be needing tyres luckily as my Direzzas have only done 12 laps of the nürburgring and so are in pretty good shape still.

Thanks for reading! beer

Great to see there are people out there who are still investing in these cars.

I've had four to date and miss my last one terribly.

Fine work Sir.

Looks brilliant, always absolutely loved these. The pictures can't be doing the respray/rust removal proper justice either, I imagine it looks absolutely showroom fresh in the metal!

How many miles are on yours? Quite a few DC2s are seriously leggy, but they just keep going forever anyway!

Very nice car. Love the pictures of the restoration. Booked mine into a body shop near Brands Hatch for next week. Seems we live close by because I'm about 15 mins away from Brands Hatch.

Surprise surprise, I have your old car. Bought it a few weeks ago. Just had a full service at Tgm and Its booked in for a little tidy up at Chappels near Brands Hatch. Enjoying the ownership so far. PM me if you would like a chat about it or probably want to see it. 😊

Mines on 86k currently. To be honest I don't use it nearly as much as I'd like, but being on Meister R Zeta R coilovers doesn't make for the most comfortable of journeys!

Amazing, thanks for responding. Its good to hear the car is still going. I ocassionally check out old registration numbers to see if they're still on the road. Does anyone else do that?
