Gotcha, hello!
Am trying to ascertain what the grinding noise is from the rear when I pitch the boat into a hard corner. Anything hanging low at the back, exhaust etc?
The bork may be strong with this one. However, I've already had £700 of use out of it so if it needs to go in the canal then I won't be sad

Must admit I did think the rear box looked a bit low but I couldn't recall what it was meant to look like, although it wasn't low enough to think that it was something to be concerned about (if that makes sense).
Have you checked the rear springs on it? Mine had more of a clunking noise, turned out to be broken spring which I understand is quite common on these beasts.

Hello Mark - yup, loving this daft old shed - No, it's not a rear WB.
Sox - thanks, I wondered if it was the backbox. It is blowing like a wheezing old man at the join out of the final silencer to tail pipe. On hard right hand corners there is a noise. I get this in the rally Porsche but it's the rear mudguards - I suspect that this is the backbox (or a hanger) getting dragged.
Pretty sure the springs are ok but will check when Talkwrench has some ramp time available for it.

Right, 300TE getting sold now I've used it to empty my entire house of stuff. Am surprised just how large they are inside when on the road it feels pretty svelte.
Will have been cheaper than hiring a skip if I get what I pay for it back. Bosh

Eurgh. Put the ad up yesterday evening. Had 3 messages already.
Can't bring myself to sell it.
Do a cost-benefit analysis of the sale. Then do another one, and keep doing them until the benefits diminish sufficiently versus the simply ENORMOUS potential cost of not having such a fine vehicle at your disposal. Can't bring myself to sell it.
What about when you need a van in the future - they don't hire themselves. What about when you want a car to take to the station and not care about too much - the cost of repairing a dent in any more pricey metal would certainly* outweigh the cost of this one. Also, what can you do with the pittance you'd sell this for? And in any case, it's probably an appreciating asset now.
Is this helping?

Excellent. That's just what I needed to hear. Thank you.
Will take the ad down now.
Would have been the easiest car to sell ever though, have had 7 enquiries over last 24 hours. 4 want to see it this week.
As good as money in the bank I suppose
If you can keep any rot under control and the 4wd working within reasonable cost, you will never lose money on it.Will take the ad down now.
