Do they do a powerflex insert for them?
They do yeah, but anything towards that direction I'd rather avoid :

Thanks for the kind words!

Anyone on a 35mm drop, are you using standard shocks, and do they cope okay?

I'm on a 30mm drop on Toyota lowering springs and the ride is fine

I'm on Apex 35mm and was on standard shocks - absolutely fine. I bought new ones just to freshen things up. They're almost £400 for 4 corners from Toyota but they use Kayaba shocks. Kayaba in Europe are KYB, and KYB shocks for all 4 corners on eBay are around £270 smile

The reason for mentioning it was that I went through a similar process with my Focus ST. The standard mount was a bit too loose, and one of the aftermarket ones I tried (in someone else's car) made the whole cabin vibrate. I then went for powerflex inserts on the standard mount and it firmed things up nicely, without excessive cabin vibrations.

There are kits too where you can pour polyurethane into the OEM mount if the inserts are not available. Enjoying the thread, excited to see where it goes next.

Big brake upgrade has finally been fitted smile

You'll have to excuse the filthy state of the car. Didn't take as many as I would have liked because I was trying to get it all done.

So just to remember, here's what my brakes looked like before...

Fronts:

Rears:

Onwards with the installation.

Back brakes removed:

Refurbished (roughly) in the same yellow, while masking all rubbers and sliders:

Rear discs, pads, newly sprayed calipers and braided hoses fitted:

Comparing the old fronts with the new:

Fitted:

On with the bleeding:

Oops. Rear nipple sheered off! I took the caliper off the car, placed it over the old disc which was also off the car, rotated the old disc so the caliper was at an angle, allowing the brake line to be at the top, then bled this caliper by loosening and tightening the hose.

And like that, the brakes were fitted and ready to go!

Some finished photos:

And yes, I fitted the front discs the wrong way around - but I was way too tired to swap them!

I'm hugely impressed by them! Brake pedal has firmed up, but not as much as I'd hoped. That's probably due to the stty master cylinder on these cars, but it's still a lot, lot firmer than normal. The most impressive part is that even though the brake pedal isn't rock hard, the brakes bite the moment you push the pedal - and they bite hard. Braking is even, not a lot of nose dive which is surprising due to the size of the front Wilwoods, so credit due to the rear EBC's there. The performance of these is fantastic smile

I might get a brake stopper, but that's no priority. They're bloody fantastic, and to me they look incredible!

Next up - fitting the front GT splitter, dynamic side skirts, and rear TRD valance.

Much better smile the back bumper originally curved up far too early and didn't look 'beefy' enough. The original skirts made the car look too high, and the original front splitter wasn't anything fancy at all. With these parts, it really does look the difference above the rest of the T-Sport celica's. It's the sort of difference between the Type S and Type R civics in terms of looks, and that's what I'm going for.

Very pleased!

Thanks buddy smile

Just had it's MOT, passed no advisories. They were really happy with the condition of it.

Onwards!

Looks great, almost like a special edition just out of the showroom - not a 11/12 year old car. Brilliant work

I forgot to mention that I'm getting that extended by 3", just so it's back out where it should be.

Looks really good now. I wonder what a grand can buy me?

You can get one for a grand no problem, but avoid any 140bhp model from 1999-2002 (pre-facelift) as these engines have fatal oil starvation flaws. 140's between 2003-2006 (facelift) were cured, and all 190's/T-Sports had a different engine anyway. Only things to look for are corrosion on the brakes, condition of the radiator, and that's about it.

A quick snap while it was at the MOT.

I'd be tempted to leave the wheels silver as it looks lovely (and more oem) just as it is smile

Damn, this is a good looking machine. How it drives with those springs and new shocks?

In general, are Wilwood brakes good quality?

I bought my '04 180k miles T-sport for £1k, it was very well taken care of so even with the high mileage its been fantastic. (up until lately, where its suffering from some sort of hesitation and certain loads and revs, I suspect MAF)

But yeah, buy on condition, not the numbers and take advantage of people being scared of cars over 100k miles and you should get a nice one.
