Cheers!
So far I've identified a few places for improvement.
Rear anti roll bar needs uprating, just went for a blat on some roads I know well, and its a bit wayward. The ARB should make it more predicable. Perhaps a set of pink springs to firm up a tad.
All new audio - the stuff in there basically sucks. Aside from an Android based head unit, perhaps a tablet build if I'm feeling brave, there will be various bits of Alpine and Nakamichi kit in there.
I quite fancy putting a GFB Deceptor Pro blow off valve in so I can be childish if the fancy takes me.
This weekend will see a snorkusectomy and intake silencer removal to release a bit more induction noise, and ideally some childish choo choo noises! Because I'm a massive child.
I'd like to make the seat sit a bit lower as above.
Finally I guess, before more power, I'd be tempted to switch to a garrett BB turbo for smoothness and more modern compressor characteristics, though this might come as and when Project: Mad EJ25 Shed Engine comes in, as I'm enjoying the stupid great dollop of power at the moment.
Wax. Lots of wax. But I need good weather for this.

Awesome spec and an awesome car! My friend was seriously looking into getting one of these after I got my WR1 Impreza as he needed a more sensible car but loved my engine and the 4wd. I was surprised when I looked into them a bit at just how light these are! For what looks a much bigger and heavier car than the Impreza these really aren't much heavier at all so that 330hp must certaintly feel like it's all there!
Just found this thread - did wonder what you bought in the end. I am jealous Quick Foresters are one of life's perverse pleasures - they shouldn't be as much fun as they are! Would have loved to have paired the Lib with one of these - I've put that in another thread somewhere - but the Lib has finally gone too. Will be following this with interest.
Was looking at them on eBay this morning now this is at the top of readers cars, nooooo!
I'd have to find somewhere that'd part ex three cars which may save my cash supplies.
Had an XTen that I was going to go for similar power but gave up as my commute was motorway and really had to find a good B road for it to come alive. Ended up resenting the fuel vs enjoyment level, got a proper back road commute now though...
Yours is absolutely lovely, not sure if I like the black or blue more, yours polished is a great argument for black!

I hear you on the look of things height wise...
However, do bear in mind the FSTi has been lowered considerably from what was the standard Forester, and this doesn't come without compromises, all of which need fixes - something I must say STi has done brilliantly
Forgive me if this is sucking eggs for you, but the lower things go the more corrections you need for effects like bump steer and the car rolling MORE around it's roll centre and the couple distance with CofG. The pick-up points on the front control arms are usually altered (lowered) to overcome a lot of this ('roll centre correction kits' from the likes of Whiteline etc). STi have fitted these (extended ball joints) as standard on the FSTi
I recently replaced my springs and dampers for 'Bilsteins' and went too low - horrible handling which gave darty bumpsteer and lots of rear roll, despite having a thicker rear arb fitted. The car was only 20mm lower on the rear. This made the rear control arms almost horizontal (not a good thing). After raising the car to more of an OE height the handling was transformed
Edit: no experience of the Tein suspension kit btw

Brilliant post, loving every bit!
Hilarious yet informative, what more could you want from PH?
Proper car btw. I've driven the equivalent Impreza STI in same colours too but always had a thing for the FSTI, since reading about the one Evo mag had for a while.
Look forward to the ongoing updates

Really good read OP - nice car as well!
I quite fancy one of these if/when the Stagea gives up the ghost, my only possible concern being that the rear load capacity didn't look quite as cavernous when I compared them side by side. I could just tell the wife to pack less when we go away of course
