Whoa Black Yeti Bam-a-lam
Discussion
I recently decided that as much as I love the Civic TypeR (and I really have, best standard road car I've ever owned) I really needed something a bit better on juice and was capable of towing the MX5 on a trailer to race meets etc. I spent weeks researching different options and looked a 3 series touring, passat estates, Freelanders etc etc. The Yeti was mentioned by someone somewhere but I don't remember who. Went to see a few and settled on this one.

2009 2.0TDI (140bhp) 4x4 in Elegance spec. Options added when new include Park Assist and Panoramic Roof. 49,000 miles and full Skoda history.
Deposit paid but not picking git up for a week as the dealer has agreed to do a cam belt and water pump as well as replacing all 4 tyres as it's currently shod with winters.
Let the jokes commence.

If they are decent spec tyres, dont throw them away. You can use them all year round.
Yeti is hands down the best all round road car there is bar none..... and I'm saying this as someone whos daily driver is a hopped up 996 and builds F1 cars for a living!
I've had a 2wd 1.9TDI and a 4X4 with the more modern diesel and even the 2WD was absolutely fantastic. They even handle well, like properly well - not just well for a soft roader/4x4 but actually well, well.
Replaced the last one with a Cayenne Turbo which whilst balistically quick for a bungalow sized conveyance is st compared to the Yeti in every other way.
Great choice you'll love it!

Are these really as good as their owners make them out to be? I haven't come across one owner who doesn't like theirs yet. There is always something positive being said about these.
Apparently the 4x4 is the one to get. I'm not going to lie, it doesn't look beautiful but I'm rather attracted to that.

Love the silver mirrors on that, might have to look at some for mine. Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow afternoon. I already have a busy weekend planned for it with a trip to Gurston Down on Sunday for the Hillclimb event and then up to Oxfordshire to visit the olds on Monday.
It's also booked in for a detachable towbar fitting next Saturday.

I might have to have a casual look round Crawley Downs Skoda myself, if you rate them.
I'll let you know once I've colelcted it tomorrow.Edited by Arun_D on Friday 22 May 14:00
I love Panda 100HPs. One of my wife's friends is looking to buy her first ever car and I've been drafted in for advice. I suggested one but apparently Fiat's are rubbish, so much for my advice then.
Collection day has arrived!
Got this loan Yeti because when I went to pick up mine it was faulty. by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr
Now those of you with a trained eye will notice this Yeti is not black and is also a facelift. This is because when I went to collect mine it wouldn't start until a jump pack was used. CDG have lent me this until they can sort mine and deliver it to me. Disappointed not to have my new car but can't complain at the service or attitude of the dealer which has been excellent so far.

The last two people I've recommended cars to, I've said "Get a Fiat". Not through any particular liking for the brand (I've never owned one) but they do small cars very well. The Panda (especially the first modern one) is a great car for the city. I love Panda 100HPs. One of my wife's friends is looking to buy her first ever car and I've been drafted in for advice. I'm hoping to hear from the dealer today on progress with mine but thought it worth mentioning that I'm really enjoying the loaner. I've done 300 miles in it over the weekend and found it comfortable and relaxing to drive and has returned 50mpg.
I ruled out the DSG equipped cars when looking as the slightly worse fuel economy put me off, this loaner is a DSG and it's very very good to drive. Had I actually driven one I may have been swayed to buy an Auto. It fair flies in Sport mode off the lights.
