Is the loaner a 4x4 (Outdoor) and which engine does it have? 50mpg sounds great to me!

It's a 4x4 140CR 2.0 TDI DSG. smile

Thanks for confirming. 50mpg is great news as this is what the Wife has coming in September, although with the new 2.0 TDi 150bhp EU6 engine (but also DSG).

I test drove one last month and was pleasantly surprised at how little roll it had. It was fun!

Love mine, but I'm certainly not getting 50mpg out of it. Long term average is something about 44mpg, on a long run i can see 46-47 but only if i stick below 75, the economy drops off quickly after that. Mines a 170bhp 4x4, Monte Carlo version.

As has been said before it really is quite good on the back roads, though if you push it hard into a Corner it will understeer a bit. When the road was icy and I was pushing along on some loose and slippy back roads I was astonished at it's traction and general ability.

I got 50 from a long run including a long section of 50mph motorway works.

Used it to go to work today and the journey home I got 47mpg. This was a mixture of town traffic, country A roads and I stopped twice to pick up shopping. Stuck mostly to the limits + 5 leptons.

It'll be interesting to compare this DSG car with my manual one when I get it.

Mine fairs better on A roads and back roads than it does on the Motorways, probably down to me sneaking it above the 75 MPH mark a bit which as I said kills it. The 140 might be a tad more economic than the 170.

Skoda could do with putting the 184 BHP version in, with start stop etc. I expect the next version will get that along with an upgrade on the Infotainment system. I'd say that's my only criticism of the Yeti, compared to the Octavia VRS for instance.

A Yeti VRS would be a nice piece of kit. smile

Yes a VRS one would be great. I have to say I've found it quite eye watering to part with 12k for a 6 year old one but these 4x4 diesel ones really hold their money. I did plenty of research in trader and eBay and although not the cheapest for the spec it's certainly not too much compared to the others. It was also the only one I could find witching 150 miles that had a panoramic roof.

i suspect mine will end up at Shark Performance before 12 months are up for a cheeky little remap to 175bhp.

For the forthcoming 2016MY updates, the 170bhp becomes an EU6 150bhp.

EU5 -> EU6
170bhp -> 150bhp
164g/km -> 144g/km
£180/yr tax -> £145/yr tax
44.8mpg -> 51.4mpg

Also 16MY Yeti's get:
- Stop Start
- Steering wheel paddles (DSG only)

That's interesting, I guess th ebig increase in MPG is due to the stop/start on the combined cycle.

Managed 46.5 on a 28 mile trip through town then country lanes to a meeting this morning, driving it sensibly. It's an interesting drive really, it's very easy to just potter along at the speed limit enjoying the ride. A marked difference from my Civic TypeR I just sold which was very hard to drive at a sensible pace.

I'm hoping to hear this afternoon that my Yeti is all well and when I can expect it to be delivered. Hopefully the weather will hold out and I can enjoy that sunroof epic straight away.

Another type of run in the loaner DSG car today. I used the A303 - A34 route to work and stuck at sensible speeds. The journey only had about 5 miles of normal roads and 20+ DC. Averaged 43mpg.

Mine is due to be dropped to me this morning so it will be interesting to compare the manual Mpg on the same routes over the next week or so.

^^^ THIS! hehe

I really like the Yeti, soooooo much better looking than the Roomster, which would drive a mildly OCD person like me bonkers wobble with it's odd window apertures.

May consider a new Yeti to replace the Octy vRS TDI wagon my wife has!

Another one for having a great thread title.

Agree that the one you have purchased looks much better than the current style too, which just looks to have no flair.

I'm glad you're all chuckling at the thread title, I have to admit to being quite proud of that popping into my head.

The Yeti has arrived and I took it out for a McD's drive through lunchtime potter.

Very happy over all with a only a couple of gripes. The new tyres that were fitted were supposed to be mid range. They're not, they're budgets of a brand I have never heard of. The 2nd thing is they have cleaned the leather with what I can only assume is some kind of sex lube, slippery isn't the word, ha ha.

The Slippy leather was a feature of the Elegance spec car I tested, it confirmed that I'd rather save a few quid and get the sports cloth style that the Monte Carlo has.

I agree the older design was a bit more distinctive, but the face lift does grow on you. here's mine after a bit of heavy use.

Same journey this morning in my manual car. 48.7 MPG. Pretty impressive for a brick shaped 4x4 smile

Some quick maths this morning suggests it's going to save me £1,200+ on fuel compared to the Civic over a year and the tax and insurance are also both cheaper.

I really like these, and every owner seems to love them. But my darling wife said "Too ugly", and the petrol engines are fairly uninspiring.

A V6 would be nice, although that is asking for a lot!

Yes they do. I did a fair bit of research when a Yeti meandered on to my possible shopping list. On Briskoda and the Yeti Owners club they all really love their cars, this is not unusual to find on an owners club forum though. What is unusual is that many of them are on their 2nd or even 3rd Yeti. That's a strong model loyalty I don't think I've ever come across before.
