Didn't realise you were so local Nick. Loving the car, and nice to see a pic of the other Nick (Skuzzle), he seems to be enjoying running that MX5 doesn't he

That he does, I'm joining him as one of the team of drivers for the Race of Remembrance in november. Should be interesting as we're building a flat bottomed, turbo charged MK2 for it.

We got one as we had a baby coming and needed something to replace the ageing Fabia.
Got a TDI 4X4 SE 110 on 22k miles which should last as the run around. Winters will go on later in the year, if I can't go fast, I can go off-road.
Now ordered one of those Yeti stickers (thanks for tip) but will stop short of a Skoda meet I think (in a diesel...) !
As everyone says, the handling is surprisingly good and the removable seats are ace.

Here it is in utility mode

That will be worth popping up to see! I used to hang around with Nick in his days of the Ford Probe, Astra G, and the Trusty Serena, which he proceeded to scare the life out of me in, after just almost rolling my car! Nick shouting shift lock in that was always a worry!

Quite a bit of love of the old Yeti on here, surprising. I know EVO rated them but didn't think many actual petrolheads would actually buy one.

On our return to sunny Hampshire I went out and tried another local greenlane.

Brilliant! I have a massive soft spot for these, they were on my short list before I ordered my Mini. If I had genuine need for the practicality of one of these (rather than just 'I can use it for camping and carrying stuff!'), I'd have one in a heartbeat.

In fact when the Mini goes back I'll seriously consider one as a daily, with a bit of sporty fun on the side, not too different from OP. smile

Really like the Yeti and hanker after one of the blinged up ones. Seriously considered it when looking for a new motor but ended up with the Fabia VRS estate instead as:

1) We only potter about most of the time so the TDI was out and the 1.2 TSI is a good engine but a bit slow
2) My wife thinks its 'too wide' which it probably is for some of the urban roads with two lines of parked cars we regularly traverse
3) They do hold their value really well and cost significantly more than any Fabia Estate, even a VRS

The other half is enjoying the raised driving position and it has a decent turn of pace (for a big diesel) but it's one of the cheapest interiors ever and considering it's in Elegance spec it not impressing me like it seems to impressing most who are posting on here. Obviously a lot of the money has been spent on the "4x4" mechanicals that you can't see (or tell if they are working!) - Skoda really should have considered spending a bit more on the interior as it's pretty bleak.

Luckily it's on a lease deal and I can't honestly say it does anything so outstanding that I'd want to buy one outright. It's comfy, the novelty of a higher up seating higher hasn't worn off yet but the interior is beaten hands down by a lot of other cars (including other Skodas). Just feels like things haven't moved that far on from a 10year old Toyota RAV inside.

Interior schminterior. You sound like a teenage girl smile

The ONLY substantial problem with the Yeti is that there is not a decent petrol engine on offer.

It just needs VAG's 2.0T and be done with it.

The 1.2 TSI is a sweet unit by all accounts, but I think possibly just a touch out of its depth on the Yeti. Do they still do the 1.8T? must have a decent stab of pace at I presume 160-180bhp? But last I looked it only came in 4x4 with manual. I'd rather have 2WD with DSG!

I think they dropped the 1.8T even before the face lift.
The interior is workmanlike, it does it's job but I'd agree it's a bit dated as is the infotainment system.

Still reckon that from a drivers point of view the Yeti is the best in it's class though, you very rarely hear a bad word said about them dynamically.
