Glad you've finally got a result! So did you have to pay anything to get the car back? is the thinking that you'll be back to where you were before the accident (albeit with fresher paint!) without being worse off financially?
That price is with me keeping the car. If I had given it up, they would have paid £3050. The garage is going do it as a contract repair for me, essentially it should be as it was pre accident for the price of the pay out, so I shouldn’t be out of pocket. It arrived there as planned this morning and they are already collecting the parts to repair it, so hopefully I shall have it back in a couple of weeks.
It’s back
and as you will notice, it finally has the chrome grills that I’ve been meaning to do for the last couple of years.
Another gratuitous picture, just because I can.
The next proper outing will hopefully be the Sunday Service at BMW (although I’m working nights then so I might not be all that with it).

Looks great Lance
Which do you prefer - your BM or Ford?
Horses for courses really. This wins hand down as a usable proposition. The Puma is great fun and makes me feel 18 again. The Cosworth is a event that puts a smile on my face whenever I get it out and the one that I don’t want to ever get rid of.Which do you prefer - your BM or Ford?
Having said that, this fits the bill for me perfectly and I can’t see me ever selling it either, I plan to just keep on using it for as long as I can.
Well I made it to Farnborough for the Sunday Service and ended up following a Velvet Blue (I think that’s what it’s called) Clubsport in.
I didn’t manage to chat to the owner but a nice looking car.
Having been at work the night before, I was not as early as usual and it seems that people did not hang around long this time.
Apologies for the awful photos, not sure why they came out like that.
Anyway, saw some lovely cars and had a brief chat with YouTuber Joe Achilles who was with his mate Tony Lewis who it turns out has a soft spot for Clubsports.
A good morning out and I’m now looking forward to the Bicester Sunday Scramble in January.

Assuming he still has it, he bought one a few months back.I’d also like to say thanks for the support and helpful suggestions everyone. To most people it’s just an old car and they don’t understand what all the fuss was about. It’s good to know that there are others out there with the same affliction who ‘get it’.
Although there can be a lot of bickering on here in some places, it’s a great community.
Briefest of updates.
Just had an Inspection 1 and the thermostat replaced (been meaning to do it myself, but as it was in anyway).
A few little minor things noted, bulbs etc. The concerning ones were the noisy DISA valve and the Mintex pads on the front, which although not excessively worn, the friction material was coming away from the backing plate!
New pads now fitted too. Everything else is on the to do list when I get a bit more time.

Found time to fix the DISA valve yesterday. The old, loose and dirty.
The new, free of play and clean.
A relatively quick and painless job. The most difficult and time consuming bit was removing the old seal. Now it is silent again and the car runs like a dream.
I also fixed a lower of these two hoses as it had perished through 17 years worth of use.
Not a good picture I’ll admit, but it’s bloody awkward to get a photo there.

Ian, I found it all here following a quick Google.

Well worth doing given how quick and easy it was. There are probably other kits out there but as my daily driver I was under time constraints to get it sorted so I went with the first one I found that I liked to look of.

The more threads the better. It’s always good to see other people’s experiences.
I do have to admit that the colour is part of what makes these a bit special and was a little bothered when Estoril became a normal colour, although the modern take on it is darker.
Next proper outing for the car should be the Gaydon Sunday Service, I shall have to give it a proper clean before then, it’s absolutely filthy at the moment.

Well, the aircon was solved with a re gas, seems to be fine now.
It’s a very considerate car, waiting until I got home from work today before emptying the contents of the header tank on my drive (would have been a damn sight more annoying on the M40). Unfortunately it was too late in the day to source a replacement.
Any recommendations as to which of the brands to buy would be welcomed.
If I hadn’t been outside replacing the starter motor on my wife’s car, I wouldn’t have been able to smell the coolant and would have been none the wiser until I was on my way to work. Small mercies and all that.
