Hi all,

Bit of a boring non ph car and the first car I've had that's a bit sensible! But I thought I'd share it as it's surprised me massively!

The car arrived yesterday, I wasn't that excited until I saw it coming off the car transporter!

I'm absolutely amazed by it. It pulls very well considering it's the 1.6 TDI, the build quality and level of equipment is outrageous.

I've done just over 200 miles to 3/8's of a tank averaging just under 70mpg (how very non ph!) according to the trip which is unbelievable given that I've been flooring it occasionally.

It cruises very well and very comfortably at 70-80 and will still pull well in 5th at those speeds.

Had a nice drive down to Beachy Head today...

I parked this behind my Mini yesterday and thought "blimey, the Mini is worth a 10th of what this costs" but having done some miles it easy to see why! If someone wants to moan about how expensive these little cars have become blah blah blah... All I'll say is take one out for a weekend! Comparing equipment to my dads well equipped E60 525d was hilarious! The A1 won top trumps there!

The S Line Audi's get a hard time for their suspension but it's very comfortable compared to my old Mini. The steering isn't the most exciting but it has a nice weight to it, there's very little body roll and it holds the road very well.

Nice colour. I like the look of the updated headlights.

We had one for 18 months, did just short of 20k in that time. The 1.6 TDI suits the car very well, wouldn't want it in anything bigger though.

We took ours on a road trip to Montpellier and back, was amazed by how it drove - it felt like a much bigger car, and was very comfortable and stable at speed.

Looks great with the contrast roof and the xenons. My friend has a standard s line in white which is very plain but still nice inside.

Noticed a few little touches I liked too, like the control wheel for the mmi is on the wrong way as in Ypu turn left for up and right for down but it works right for the driver. Big inside too.

Very handsome. I like the idea of a competent diesel A1. Not very PH but I can completely see the attraction of reliable, premium product. Also, interior pictures please.

Thanks guys.

I'll get some interior pics today, to be honest, the interior is the best bit!

Filled the tank up after 410 miles, worked out nearly 60mpg which considering I've not been trying to be economical and I've had the AC on constantly I think that's pretty impressive!

Few crappy interior shots...

What is very impressive is how premium everything you touch feels. I'm in love with the steering wheel and how intuitive the controls are. The fact it's not a drivers car mean that the buttons on the steering wheel are welcomed IMO. If you accept what it is you really do love it!

I've got an Ibiza FR with the 1.6 TDI as my daily work horse.

The engine is actually very decent - useless if you're ringing it out on a dual carriageway but if you're on the motorway in 5th it pulls well for what it is as you say.

I always get mid 60's over a tank too. Nice motor mate.

Got the same engine in the wives Ibiza, just filled it up for the last time (going in June) and its averaged over 2 years a calculated 56.9mpg, that's pretty good considering she drives it most the time and the longest journey it gets is generally 12 miles..

Noticed it could use a 6th gear, on the motorway at 60mph it'll average mid to high 60's, up it to 70 and it'll be doing high 50's.. But then it's not a motorway car.

Must say I'm looking forward to getting back into a petrol, although the engines effective it also manages to ruin the car, the clatter, noise and general harshness was pretty unpleasant and got on my tits. This may be better in the A1 though?

It's the new 1.6 TDI which I think is only in this and the A3 at the moment. It still pulls at 4000rpm and is silent with the doors and windows closed. And the noise though the Rev range is perfectly acceptable.

There had to be a bloody good reason to get rid of my Mini and that was it! Quoted is 82mpg but I'm getting between 60-70mpg most journeys now.
