The not so common A45 AMG

Ludicrous performance to have in a hatchback. The aero kit really suits the green wrap. It's very quick off the mark but how does it compare to your previous cars once on the move? Do you get much turbo lag/breathlessness at the top end or does it still feel silly quick when up to speed/in gear acceleration?
1st, 2nd and 3rd are ludicrous! Above that (100+) you do start to feel the lack of capacity. That said, I always felt the previous motors were too much for our roads and you couldn't enjoy them fully until you were in 'ban' territory. I'm really enjoying the point and squirt ability of the A45 and don't really miss the high end performance......... for now!As for lag? No, not really. This car has no lag, not like the turbo's of old. Simply point and squirt, as above.

Seats look great! How do you find it vs previous metal as you've owned some nice cars there?
TX.
Quicker where it needs to be and more usable on the day to day routine. Interior is a big leap from the W204 C63 too!TX.
The only let down is the build quality. Many have complained about squeaks and rattles but so far mine has been pretty sound..... bar an issue with the brake ducts last year.

OK, now I see the A45's potential, I can see why people buy them. Locally bought they're more than an arm and a leg €€€€€€, with not a penny discount from MB Lux.
Being a fully-gledge AMG, it's not on our company car list.
Yeah, even here it's double the cost to lease than the Golf R and £10k more to buy than the R. Merc have probably ripped us off with the A45 but ive come to conclude that i don't care. It's like the Golf being a Sainsbury's car...... It keeps the chavs out of Waitrose, as terrible and snobby as it sounds. Being a fully-gledge AMG, it's not on our company car list.

You pay more and you get more. The badge snobbery will always mean the AMG badge carries a big premium over a VW.

That was a great read, and some impressive figures.
Saw one parked up in town the other evening, was grey with the 5 spoke wheels, looked so subtle.. I must admit it made me kind of fancy one.
I'm just not sure I could have one over a V8 saloon? How does it compare? If imagine this std would keep the PPP C63 fairly honest?

Completely agree about bigger engines and not really being able to open them up on normal roads. My old S55 was so long geared as well wouldnt go into 3rd until 90! You really needed an empty dual carriageway to open upn otherwise in a few seconds your tailgating the car in front!
Debating getting my S8 wrapped to be honest, looks tasty!

Very nice car and you sound chuffed with it. For me though, I can't get on with the looks, especially the rear. Its too melty, too frumpy, too 90's-american-everything-must-be-rounded-off-bar-of-soap design.
Top marks on the colour though. Far to many people go for the monochromatic options. A bit of bright colour is a good thing.
