Thanks smile

It arrived at port in Newcastle on Thursday (14 weeks after purchase!) and now waiting for the Customs invoice to come through.

Be another couple of weeks before it gets here, registered, MOTd and finally on the road!

Who did you use to purchase and import the car?

Yeah - the wait is starting to annoy me now!! Never thought it would stretch to 16-17 weeks.

I used Aberdeenshire imports to avoid a trek down to England again.

The wait hasn't been good for my wallet either - oops! ....but should sound good biggrin

It's arrived with the importer, but that's 45 miles from me. Hopefully going to pop over for a look at the weekend, while it's getting the fog light, speed sensor and Mot done.

Sounds like its in serious need of a good cleaning, but could tell that from the pics. Will post up some UK taken pics shortly.

Be careful with the fog light as our importer (Impreza STi) added the crappest most horrible fog light you could imagine to a wonderful (in my eyes wink) looking car, proper fking annoyed me at the time mad

I think that's pretty standard, you'll have to make do with a square universal crap thing sticking out from underneath the bumper for the MOT, then if I were you I'd swap it for a UK spec rear light unit and fit the appropriate wiring.

Already been on the case with that one smile

It's going to be on a bracket, so that it can be hidden under the bumper when not needed thumbup

How do they do the speedo conversions these days. A friend imported an FTO many moons ago and I remember the importer just stuck a sticker over the top of the speedo, it looked so crap and you lost most of the illumination at night.

Its some kind of switch on the Civic.

I'm hoping it converts the reading on the trip to miles travelled rather than kilometres, as well as changing the speed reading, but we'll see.

So, went to see it today. The importer has given it an initial wash and engine clean to take off the worst.

Its clearly been sitting somewhere in Japan for quite a long time and is in dire need of a really thorough clean, clay, polish and wax. Fundamentally the bodywork is excellent - almost immaculate really. There's a damn good car in there that will be revealed in time.

Unfortunately the wheels will need a refurb. Might try touching them in with paint for the winter and then do the refurb in the spring. Will be getting new red H stickers for the centre caps ASAP - they let it down quite a bit.

Minor jobs to do - wiper arms rusty and rubber crumbled off the strips along top of the doors. Antenna to remove, which is just stuck on. Should all be fairly easy and cheap.

Interior - hmmm....its been smoked in and wasn't aware of that. Couple of burns in the driver seat and the whole thing needs a professional valet - don't think its been cleaned, ever! Should come up ok though.

Forgot to take a pic of inside the boot, buts its excellent nick.

The UK EP3 never did it for me after owning a DC2 and 5 but I love the JDM spec. Proper colour for a type R with of course a diff.

I would think the jobs will be satisfying for you OP, the car is 95% there with a bit of extra £££ and elbow grease this will be a little minter!

Keep the thread updated too thumbup

It's actually a welcome back. They were made in Swindon and shipped out to Japan - that's why the JDM cars have Union Jacks on the boot lids smile

Must have annoyed the Swindon workers making these massively better specced cars, which the UK couldn't buy!
