God knows. I was about 7, so this was about 35 years ago....

Love the Doly, was watching an episode of The Professionals the other day where Bodie & Doyle were heavily featured in one. Brilliant little cars

I ran an 1850, could never afford a Sprint. Loved it though and happy happy memories and did lots of miles in the relativity short time I owned her..

With all Dollys and the thing that killed mine was that the front chassis legs rust through. Mine was only 12 years old when she failed the MOT and headed for the scrap yard in the sky.. frown

Fond memories of mine, especially the ritual of having to tap the tacho to wake it up after the engine was started....

Looks like a very nice one. Closest I've got to owning one was a Saab 900 wink

They're awesome on track. Especially if you're Gerry Marshall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD8SlqqKocA

I've never seen one of those before.

I wouldn't put the laurel decal on the bonnet.

Regards to the HPE.

I have had 3 Sprints over the years. My first car was a sprint WLO 222M. My second car was identical to this AMN768S. Both long since scrapped frown

The HPE is now with a bloke in Reading being restored after I borked it. I am also moving on my Eclat, but pondering an Excel.

Today I drove the Dolly from South Oxfordshire to North East Norfolk to collect my daughter from school, sat through Speech Day, and then drove the jalope home again. The car was very goody two shoes all day, including a spell in a sweaty traffic jam near Cambridge. Must sort out noisy exhaust bracket.

I used to work with a girl who called these the Triumph Dollop O'ste. Sharp tongued madame.

Yours looks fabbo rave as my old French and Spanish teacher used to say. Chubby little sod.

Great car, ive owned 13 of them !!! Sound great with a Triumphtune exhaust (if they still exist) and even better on twin webbers with a cam.

Looks fab BV. Brings back memories of my old 78 Inca Yellow Sprint SFN977S. Had it when I was 19 for about 5 years in the late 80s.

I loved it, as did Mrs H67. I think I did around 40k miles in it which accounted for at least 2 timing chains, 3 or 4 water pumps and gawd knows how many sets of points. I went through front pads every couple of months and used to keep a set in the glovebox. Prop u/js didn't last long either.

Sadly I couldn't keep the rust away and when it failed an MOT on rotten chassis legs, I pxed it against a 216 Vitesse.

Anyway, good luck with it and good to see you back. smash67

My father had a new one.

It stayed in-tune for about a week.

Sorry to learn that. That HPE looked lovely. cry

The HPE went to Richard Thorne?

Besides the body restyle were there any significant engine or chassis upgrades when the Eclat became the Excel?

I like this Dolomite, hence me saying that I'd not put a laurel wreath decal on the bonnet.

Did all Sprints have a Leyland swirly oil filler? I never knew about those.

Did those LE black and silver 1500s have the decal on the bonnet?

Yes, I think they all did, mine certainly had one. I remember it well, as I used to change the oil every 100 yards or so.

No, don't think so, IIRC the laurel wreath was only standard on TR7s.
