Oof! Looks a great vid at the start. That's on my bucket list of things before I die - the Ring in a 911. I'll watch the rest with my speakers plugged in and turned up!
I see what you are saying re; 997S vs C4S, especially WRT 4wd. But I agree the haunches make a big difference. I actually like the front end of the 996 facelifted, esp with the turbo front bumper. If they made more 7S's then the C4s may be more of an investment? Need to do more research.
But, if, when I do take the plunge I think it needs to be a man gearbox. I love autos and have a great 8 speed step auto in my 3 series but I do like the control of a manual.
I too like the red int. of yours, not seen many with this colour. Exterior wise I particularly like the seal grey, but I have a soft spot for met grey cars anyway. Not overly fussed what colour it is externally as long as there is a decent contrast vs interior.

Not too shabby! I'm guessing that wasn't your first time there?

I like the red black contrast, it's very Porsche! Black interiors are just boring once you've spent a bit of time in one.
Agreed.
My first 996 had a black interior, which was fine but safe, and perhaps a tad boring.
The special colours really help lift the interior (although I don't think I could live with savannah)

Cheers for the comments chaps,

The trackday at the ring was pretty bloody awesome. One of those days where you have to metaphorically pinch yourself, step back and appreciate the moment.

That was my first time round in the 911, I've lapped a few times before in my old MX5 and dos a handful of laps in pals cars earlier this year. After which I still didn't really feel like I was getting anywhere. The main thing that improved my lines was going round following an instructor in his RS7. Showed you what sort of entry speeds are possible, when to brake and perhaps more importantly when NOT to brake. There's loads of room for improvement. I was getting the carrousel totally wrong for example! I think that lap is around 9 Mins. I've set myself the goal of getting round in sub 8mins next year!

It's a wonderful place. Can't wait to get back!

Ps, I've got my eye on a pair of 997 sports seats in very good nick. Just working on the price...

I remember my 4S fondly. So reliable too. 4s styling with turbo engine would get me back into a 996

In theory you'd think it would work but I've seen BOX's with black wheels and they don't look that great.

I've been looking at Cup steering wheels :-S
I've got one and I'm not going to keep it as it's a bit small in diameter and in rim thickness. Also you have to reach much further for indicator and wipers. I'd prefer a wheel which is bigger and thicker. That might mean less leg room so I need different seats too. I'm almost 6 foot 2. What size are you?

Hi Mate,

Saw this car up for sale and thought it looked a good un. Nice purchase.

How do you feel about the red?!

Re steering wheel. I'll take that off your hands. How much do you want for it?

I like the red. First Boxster I ever saw and thought I like that was the same, silver + Red. I think its got a bit of retro going on.

Been looking for a while. Decided I wanted an early 3.4 and it had to be coupe, manual and 2wd. There dont seem to be many about.

I need the wheel right now - or the car is useless. If I get another I'll let you know.

Hi Pal,

He'll be after a 997 then?

Can't you talk him into a manual? The tips are highly shameful.

DM me on insta when the time comes, I may know of a suitable car.

Sorry mate, not massively knowledgeable on Porsche if i'm honest.

Yeah, will do, nice one. He's just used to driving autos now i think. I can have a word but i think he's set on what he's after.

Cheers

The question here was because porsche did not make a C2S until the 997. So in 996 form it is either a C2, C4 or C4S. In 996 the S just means wider bodied. In the 997 the S meant a 3.8 instead of a 3.6 engine.
