The question here was because porsche did not make a C2S until the 997. So in 996 form it is either a C2, C4 or C4S. In 996 the S just means wider bodied. In the 997 the S meant a 3.8 instead of a 3.6 engine.
Unless he's referring to Tiptronic S, some people make that mistake.

No apology needed. But if you cant spell Porsche that is a serious problem.

Welcome to pistonheads :laugh

996, funny headlights.
997, round headlights

C2 2wd narrow body
C2s 2wd narrow body (doesn't exist in 996 flavour)
C4 4wd narrow body
C4s 4wd wide body

To be honest I wish they did do a 996 2S in a wide body. Kind of a GTS spec.

If you want to have a mooch around mine one evening I'd be happy to help.

Much appreciated. I've never been a huge Porsche fan but i am starting to see their appeal now.

I believe Ryan has got a 335i now. I am eagerly awaiting some snaps of it.

Most people dont get it until they've driven one for a while. My first drive of any Porsche was a Boxster at an experience day. We got to drive several cars. The Boxster was by far and away the best car and just felt so right on track. I immediately decided I wanted one. Before that I thought they were a hair dressers car and not a real Porsche etc etc.

On 997 yes. 4wd adds wider rear arch, alloy size + tyre. Possibly to even out for the extra grip from the front wheels having drive.

If my old man does get one i'll try and swing for a drive in it if i can. I'm sure that i won't be left disappointed but, saying that, i've not really driven many fast cars so that would be a given.

I looked on AT before and didn't realise how cheap the Boxsters can be had for now. Image isn't a big issue for me, although it's hard to get away from certain stereotypes, unfortunately.

These older cars are not really that fast. Something like a BMW 135i will be quicker in a straight line. So dont expect to feel blown away. The thrill comes from driving. The way the steering wheel talks to you is difficult to explain.

As i said, in comparison to other cars that i've driven, i can imagine it will be a much better experience all-in-all. That's if it happens anyway...

Hi Pal,

He'll be after a 997 then?

Can't you talk him into a manual? The tips are highly shameful.

DM me on insta when the time comes, I may know of a suitable car.
FYI, my old man went to have a look at the one he was after but it turned out to be a bit of a nail. Needed a fair amount of work mechanically and the bodywork wasn't the best either. Probably why it was sold so cheap for a 997. Think he was after 15k for it.

He's now picked up a pretty immaculate example from a seller somewhere in the Lake District last week. The seller was after an estate of some kind so my he agreed to buy my dad's 535D Touring for 10k and he'd put the rest towards the Porsche.

It's a 2006 997 Carrera (2) S. Just had a full engine rebuild from a specialist and is mechanically and physically spot on. Few minor marks on the alloys but that's it really. Funnily enough the first one he looked at was a manual, which i wasn't aware of, but this one is a Tiptronic. It's also got a lovely aftermarket exhaust on it.

He brought it round to my work the other day and took me for a quick spin in it. Not sure what the exact colour is but it's a dark grey kind-of tone. The noise is fantastic and i reckon the exhaust definitely helps with that. The only thing i'm not sure about is the rear lights are quite dark and i reckon they've been tinted. Lets the rear down IMO.

Apart from that, it's pretty spot-on. I'll try and get some snaps up on here when i can.
