I'm loving this thread - thanks for posting OP. thumbup

In the 80s I thought a Capri 2.8i was the business with 160bhp (I had 2), but 550bhp has to be bordering on mental!

Good luck with the build, and I'm really looking forward to the end result.

I also had a 2.8i when i was a teenager, even bored the engine out to 3 litres with chevy pistons to give it 180bhp lol... i replaced it with a 1.3 GTi swift which was NA and yet was quicker than the capri, I was gutted at the time lol
taught me a valuable lesson actually... power isn't everything, its actually ALL about the entire package..The swift was light and rev'd and thus all the power could be unleashed, unlike the capri that could light the wheels up at will and was actually harder to put the power down.

I'm hoping my version will be easier to drive fast than my old 2.8i despite the huge power advantage smile

Oh how excited I was when this popped up, I've not been so disappointed to see it was just a bump since I got a jumper as a main gift for my 12th birthday (yes, yes, I know Im ungrateful)

I am with you there, squashy packages for birthdays are pretty much regarded as child cruelty by 12 year old boys, the best ones are maybe 60 plus cm wide by 40 high and 15 deep and make a shaky noise as they contain Technical Lego.

And yes, only updates from the OP are acceptable !

I'm pretty glad it got bumped, as I've got a project Capri with a BMW V12 stuffed in it and I've been wondering if it was all possible to make it a useable car biglaugh

500bhp in a Capri? That's going to need the mother of all paving slabs in the boot!

hehe
Don't worry, this Capri will handle and stop as well as it goes ;-)

It's still alive.

Ive been focusing and spending all my time and money on the noble as I want that back on the road... unusually for me the winter rebuild has taken a spec slide and i've taken on a little too much to the point I scratch built a new design of dash and made it in carbon along with fitting a different engine and box etc etc.

I almost didn't click to avoid the enviable disappointment at another wasted bump.

Bloody glad I did tho, the project is still on!

Keep going Andy, it may be finished one day, but keep us updated if you can.
