Cat, or Dog? Cheapo 1992 Jaguar XJS 4.0
Discussion
Something happens to you when you buy an XJS. I first drove an old rust ridden 3.6 which actually had about 3 cylinders working but I was smitten. I then made it my mission to drive them all and had the 3.6,4.0,5.3 and the 6.0l . In a moment of madness I sold the 6.0l and bought an early XKR what a mistake
Well, it's back, and it's goppingly hideous! The bonnet was replaced with one almost but not quite the same green as the old one. The boot is now gold! The offside front wing is blue. Hey, the coachline matches. The offside rear arch is not yet replaced, but will be in due course. The bonnet cable has snapped, so the bonnet is ajar.
Photos later. Here it is at a station car park ready to ps off two proud XK8 owners when they get back from work. Bad lighting conceals the fact that the XJS looks like st. Still drives great, though!

BTW, the Beta Coupe was this one - it looked MUCH worse than this in real life.
I sold it for 500 quid to a dude on another forum, who tried to give me grief because it was mega rusty, but given that the for sale ad had said words to the effect that the car was mega rusty and that buying it would require welding skillz and big cojones, I politely encouraged him to desist, and he did. What then befell the heap I know not.

Joking apart, the people to whom I entrusted the car made a right mess of the work that they did do and failed to do several things that they had agreed to do. Anyone who wants to know which place to avoid for old Jag work, PM me for details.
BV, I have a friend who's a 30+ year Jaguar specialist. PM me if you'd like contact details. He's not too far from you/me and is correctly priced.A year has rolled past, and the Jaguar has sat on its arse under a tarp, going nowhere. This was because reasons, but now I am thinking of waking the thing up again. The jammed boot has been fixed, so I can at least get in to charge the battery. I need to find a suitable place to take on a bit of welding and do a paint job, and then sort out a few bits and bobs under the bonnet.
