Update on my DS5....

Decided in March 2019 that it was time to sell. It had been taken off mundane daily duties, instead to enjoy when the weather was fair. However the problem was, it didn't get used for motorway journeys to avoid putting mundane mileage on it, however it didn't get used at weekends because it was a diesel hatchback! So realistically, it was a heart over head thing keeping it.

It took the best part of a year to decide to part with it and was really a head over heart decision to let it go. However there is still Citroen in my stable, as I bought a Traction Avant after the DS5 went.

No chance with Citroen covering the wheels unfortunately, we used to struggle past one year old to get them covered. Had to pretty much prove they’d never been cleaned using acidic cleaners etc...

Also-don’t bother with the dealer fit DAB-we used to fit them obviously and it was a pain in the arse, plus the audio quality/signal was hugely variable.
So best leave it alone. I’ll get a few quotes to refurb the diamond finish. Will delay dab and look further. Collecting the car in the morning. Best fuel? Never owned a diesel. My Mazda 6MPS demanded min 99octane. My other cars always were treated. Should I use ‘standard’ diesel or aim for premium

Standard is fine. These engines never really gave us any trouble-keep them regularly serviced to schedule (although I’d half the oil interval to 10k/annually rather than the 2 years/20k) and they’d be reliable. Torquey too-much nicer to drive than the flat 1.6 HDI.

Great thanks. Well picked the car up. Very impressed. A little wear to the aluminium around the ashtray and also the rubbery grey around the gear surround. Getting used to the bits and bobs. Checked the boot, and am missing the warning triangle. Also the jack and a few tools too. I have a full Citroen history in the service manual but not a copy of the owners manual. Did manage to download a copy.

Does have the compressor and tyre bits. So will run it for a bit and start looking at a few bits to do. Wheel corrosion and the scratches. Mot and service is 6 months away.

Citroen Car Club is your best bet. There are Facebook pages and groups, and a forum.

I found the CCC a bit snobby with regards to the DS3/4/5 models. It seemed an unspoken rule that anything that either didn't have hydropneumatic suspension or had the letter X in the model name was regarded as "not a proper Citroen". 2cv models and A series in general seems perfectly catered for by the 2CVGB club and anything pre-war plus the post-war Traction Avant cars are welcomed by the Traction Owners Club.

There also seems to be a feeling that since DS Automobiles became an independent brand, even the earlier DS3/4/5 cars which were sold with Citroen badging, chevrons on the front and CITROEN printed on the V5c, those cars ought to be retrospectively excluded. Of this isn't representative of all members of the CCC and there are plenty of helpful and pro-DS model members, however just in my experience this was the overwhelming feeling.

When I sold my DS5 I didn't bother renewing CCC membership, but joined one of the other Citroen clubs when I bought my older Citroen instead. If I were to buy another DS5, I'd probably join the DS3 Club as they're active and although not the same model, can probably cater for the DS5 better than the CCC.

Didn't want to start another thread so I thought this would be the best place to post up a question I have about the heated seats in the DS5 I have just bought.

Before that though a brief spec
2013 DS5 Sport Hybrid.
40k
Black with black watchstrap leather (heated + massage)
Upgraded (I believe?) 19" diamond cut wheels.
HUD.
Auto High/low beam. (optional extra?)
Lane departure warning. (optional extra?)
Also has what I believe to be an optional dash display that can be turned black at night and only show the speedo?

I have only had the car a little over a week now and the purchase was somewhat influenced by Muddles own car. Coming from a well spec'd F56 Mini Cooper works the 2 cars are chalk and cheese but the DS5 is by far the nicer car and will definitely be a keeper.

Question I have is - How warm should the heated seats get? With the watchstrap leather being a decent quality it already has a reasonably warm feel to it anyway, but even on a cold morning with the heated seats turned up full I can't feel any warmth below me?

The seats are not getting very warm in mine as well, and the warm comes after alot of waiting(5 minutes or so). They don't get nearly as hot as the ones from VW and Audi, that you cannot stay on them at the maximum level ( 3 ).
I have now bought the amplifier from isotec that connects directly to the radio. It came with a subwoofer from hifonics. The installation was not as hard as expected but the instructions for plugging the cables were wrong and that took some time to find the right ones.
The amplifier is set up for the front speakers and subwoofer, and for the moment I am not totally pleased with it since I had no time for properly setting it up. I will try to set it right and I will let you guys know what I did and how it sounds like now.
For moment the subwoofer is sometimes very loud and a pain for ears, since you more hear it than feel it, but on some songs it's what supposed to be like.
If someone bought the isotec amplifier and managed to set it up right let me know.

@Mudlle238...if I see correctly from your first post you have installed dash cam in your DS5, can you give instructions how you installed cable from dash come down to, I guess, fuse box? My car is left handed, I guess fuse box is on my drivers side beneath steering wheel. If you connected power cable direct to fuse, which one you connected to?

Also, can you explain how did you put power cable of dash cam through A pillar? I am planning to install dash cam but not so much space for cabling, everything is so tight, especially part between closed door and fuse box, and I am afraid not to torn anything of interiors...

It would have been from the camera, tot the top of the windscreen, then tucked under the headlining to the passenger side A pillar, around the end of the A pillar trim into the flexible rubber along the door join, down to footwell height, under the glovebox, then tucked under the central transmission tunnel trim, past the passenger seat and then up to a 12v plug, connected the 12v socket under the rear air vents.

Hi all, it's my first time posting on PH, however I have been reading the threads here for sometime.

My post today is to show a different approach to a previously mentioned issue, mentioned earlier on this thread. Namely the quality of the picture from the rear view camera of a DS5 at night. Below are two photos of my DS5 screen parked in the same location on two different evenings, there is no added lighting or modifications to the rear lights of my car. The only different is the camera itself!

After

Did you replace initial camera due to malfunction or just wanted better version?

apologises, I didn't see your post 'til now.

There was no malfunction with the original camera, however my wife's car is from the VAG stable and I was very impressed with the quality of her camera and especially at night. As any Citroen DS5 owner with a fitted rear view camera will agree with, is that the camera quality at night is pretty poor.

I decided to research a fix for the DS5, I stumbled upon a guy in Moscow who had posted a few pictures on a thread. Using Google Translate, I got the gist of what he did. He replaced the Citroen DS5 original rear-view camera with a rear-view camera from a Citroen C4 Picasso II (B78), however he didn’t go into any detail on the wiring. Please note: the wiring to the cameras are different, and the C4 Picasso II camera must be rewired for it to work in the DS5.
