There's a small part of me that thinks about trading my Polo in for one just cos they are so cool and exciting (In competizione form) but I just couldnt deal with that tiny gap you get to squeeze in behind the sabelt seats and the tiny boot.

I test drove a 308 GTI and quite liked it. Nice seats with massage function, some nice toys inside like electronic automatic handbrake, the digital speedo always shows the speed limit where you are next to your speed.
Unfortunately it was raining and there was lots of traffic on my test drive but the handling felt sharp. The engine note was a tad flat and way too fake sounding with sport mode on. But I'd be tempted because of the rarity and the discounts you can get. Plus it has a diff and Alcon brakes as standard.

Just got to try and find one as you said.....

If cash is the issue, I reckon an entry level Abarth is just as fun most of the time, or if your handy round a set of tools (guessing RX-7) isn't the easiest car to work on) why not get a cheap 09 plate Abarth and set a little project up on that?

Or save time and just order the one you off the configuration, looks pretty good biggrin

I have major respect for anyone taking that on, especially as I have a special place in my heart for 90's Japanese cars (thanks to Gran Turismo PS1)

My local dealer pretty much threw the keys at me said I'll see you in a bit then we'll talk. He knew the car did all the talking!

Only reason I couldnt go for a test drive then was the car wasn't actually there, going for one today

Hope you enjoy it, really can't emphasise how much better the abarth range is in person than on a screen or in a review, especially the sound - took mine to a wedding yesterday and had a good few positive comments about it.

Look forward to hearing what you think about it mate

Just got back, it's a really nice car, test drove one with the performance pack (which I won't be getting but they only had one available for test driving). It's quick, i've owned a car of similar power before but this was much better.

Clutch was a little heavy (but that's probably mainly because the clutch in a 82hp fiesta feels like a piece of wet paper) and the steering was much heavier than I thought it would be (probably because of the same reason). Seat is a bit high but it's something I could get used to, to be honest. Just need to see how much insurance would be and see if I can get a sweeter deal on financing (any tips on this? first time financer on PCP for myself), then I'm ready to buy.

oh, and waiting at the lights on a 50 road in my test drive, some modified/mapped diesel scirocco thought I was going to race him at the lights, made me snigger a bit

Try Carwow for a PCP quote and take it from there. It's roughly around £1000 down £300/month on a performance pack car, then every £1000 you out in take about £25/month off. I just dropped £1k in and my payments are £300 but with a low set GFV (~£6000 after 4years), so then when I come to change in about 2 years my value v outstanding should be level or in my favour

Thanks, will check it out. Only thing is I can't seem to select the wheel option I want. Was hoping to spec the matt black supersport wheels, but the only ones listed are as follows.

I'm guessing the ones named Esseesse matt black alloy wheels are actually the supersport ones as they're the same price, but just want to double check

The list says Matt black formula alloys unless I'm missing something? Essesse alloys are the best imo though

Well I mean, there's nothing called that on the config, which is what's throwing me off

eta: I meant the supersport wheels, not formula, edited my other post, probably makes more sense now
