If you're going to restore this car you're in it for the long haul, this is hundreds of hours work.

...

Of course, you could probably plate over the rust, fill the holes, give it a blow over, tackle the mechanicals and get it through an MOT. Then it will be roadworthy (for a time...) but still a dog.
My thoughts encapsulated. Some of those holes are way too big and far gone to be thinking about patching up, so new panels are almost unavoidable.

Good luck. You're a braver man than I.

The only bits being plated or made from sheet steel are the inner arches and front floor pan where the not jacking jacking points are.

Priced up brand new rear end, sills, arches for £200. Probably another £300 getting them welded in. Already got new front wings. Front valance is £50 if I choose to replace it, not sure if I will yet as haven't had a chance to start up front.

In regards to the suspension etc I know I will need new ones. Luckily e30 parts are dirt cheap hence taking on this project smile

In the next week I expect the interior will be stripped back to just a dash left in it. Will know the full scale of repair then.

We've done a few projects.

The cheapest way is always to get the best car you can to start with!

But then that's not always the best fun!

Update to this

Late december I had Range Rover problems involving new height sensors so never got round to buying the panels as im a poor student.

Finally yesterday ordered up all new sills, rear arches, rear 1/4 panel bit at the bottom, rear valance/boot section from top to bottom.

2 weeks before they arrive in the uk then another week probably getting to the highlands.

Also bought a e38 im going to learn to respray on so that I can spray this myself.

How it looked when I left for work was the pictures above. Just home now so grabbed some pics. Only spot welded in place for now. Also yes I know it's not 100% perfect but it's my mate doing it for beer money.

Slowly getting there smile

I took the front seats out, the carpet up to the centre console which I need to remove to get the last edge of the carpet out. The sponge st below it is absolutely dripping, assumed to have come in through the holes at the bases of the A pillars.

Your mate isn't shy of an angle grinder is he!?

Glad to see it being done properly. If the new panels go back on in pretty much the same place the old ones came off this should end up looking pretty smart.

Not a lot has happened to this. Got a old set of wheels my mate used to have on a polo, won't be there forever. Sick of the old tyres going flat so these are just for rolling around purposes.

Can't remember what I've posted up to date. A friend of my mums boyfriend is due to do the timing belt soon. Welding is almost finished (being done while I'm in America right now). Will be attempting to do all the bodywork myself in the evenings after uni. Brakes/suspension etc are jobs I'm going to do after the body is finished. Got a set of 17" team dynamic wheels off a friend for free as the 15" polo wheels wouldn't clear the front brakes.

Why don't you do the timing belt yourself? Shirley they don't get much easier than on one of these?

Never done one before and don't want to fk it up. Are e30's that easy to do it on?
