long time lurker. was a member 10-15 years ago but cant remember login details.

anyway, had a lot of previous VW's and Audis, mk2 Golf GTI's, mk3 VR6's, Audi RS2 etc but having had them for over 20 years, was ready for a change.

bought a Subaru Legacy a few years ago and loved it. wanted something for the garage / weekend toy but something a bit practical too. think the FSTI fits the bill nicely :

you wont be disappointed. remapped to 332hp and 398lb ft. removed to square plates now and had a proper set fitted. always gets comments wherever you go in it.

I LOVE these things.

I got my arse handed to me by an older Forester, looked comically quick. Yours looks brilliant.

more pics :

must admit, ive had some really nice cars over the years but im loving this. just don't expect it to be capable of doing what it does. speed limiter has been removed, Bob Rawle remap, good for an indicated165mph ( closed road officer )

I really want another Subaru after having my Bug. I was looking at Series Mcrae impreza but feel like an FSTI would be the better option.

Are there any negatives? Is it a bit tank like?

Another one joins the fray. These appear to be getting a bit common now.

What I mean is I've just bought one myself and love it (plus Dan's recent post which singles out another Readers' Cars thread). Mine was imported from new and I'm the second owner, will be sorting a remap among other things in the new year. When it stops raining and I stop getting it dirty I'll get get a thread started.

only about 70kg more than an Impreza STI. bit more practical though. more overall room. huge boot. likes at drink of VPOWER but only used at weekends / nice days so not a problem really. can get 400 plus out of a tank or less than 200.
bought it because its a bit different. bored of VW's and Audis now. only other Audi I would now as a second car would be a nice, original b5 RS4 ( in imola ) but trying to find the right one is nigh on impossible.
paid a high price for this but has had everything done to it recently. belts, rollers, discs, pads, tyres, remap, uprated roll bars and braces. the lot.
all in all, lot of car for the money

little update. gave my nephew a hand getting his Scirocco R clean :

not much change with the FSTI apart from some new plates ( hate the import square ones ).

Beautiful. These are starting to catch on with a lot of people now IMO. The only thing I've heard though is that the boot isn't actually that big and there's not much space in the back despite it being a "large" vehicle?

Boot is very large. Not as deep as my Legacy but still vast. Good enough for Santa to store this years gifts in !

Exhaust clip. Cold night in the garage. Car was warm and only revved upto 2500 rpm.

Lovely cars are the FSTI's, 265ps from the factory and designed as a nice comfy cruiser.

Not as nice to drive as say a B4 GTB or a Twin Scroll WRX STI which have more low down grunt but they were not made for that.

Biggest issue is the EJ257, its one unreliable engine, keep any tuning to a minimum, ensure you run it on the best fuel you can and service regulary.

I think the main issue with the 2.5 was the early UK ones. Bad map on thoses. Not heard any issues regarding the JDM ones and also any that have been mapped correctly for v-power etc. Obviously, boost levels not too crazy helps too. Lots of the litchfields ones still running 330bhp from new with no issues.
