A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow found me.
Discussion
We moved house back in June, into rental place, no room to carry on at the rented house. Eventually in January a sale of the old house was going ahead and something had to be done about the 2.5 tons of dismantled 70's Roller.....
Nigel Sandell, the RR specialist who re-linered the block met me at the house one evening. we agreed a fixed price on a labour, plus parts.
He's pulled the dead engine, fitted all the ancillaries to the new engine, a major service of the gearbox, assembled the car, test driven it, fixed a myriad of light bulbs, relays and so on. The general kind of de-bugging you'd expect.
He's done a major overhaul of the brakes. Flushed and test rad, new fan, new washer bottle, new speedo cables, fixed header tank, flushed hydraulic tank, new engine mounts, its an endless list of parts. Infact, the parts bill was nearly £5000 more than I thought which is a reflection of the thoroughness of the job.
Its MOt'd. I drove it home to Isle of Wight (ferry was listing to one side!) yesterday and seems to be running very well. There's a few jobs to do.

A vast sea of chocolate brown leather and 8 tracks, including, a Partridge Family Christmas on 8 track. As the kids say, sick (is that right?)
Oh, and new seat belts with red webbing. Sick (no?)
There's some stuff to do, little jobs, but essentially, its very solid, presentable enough to not need to worry about it, we're right on top of a very thorough maintenance plan. Well placed for some reliable use.
Total cost, inc buying, the engine rebuild costs that I mostly did, plus all the recent work I had done, £23k.
I can't speak highly enough of Nigel Sandell. I just spent a lot of dosh with him and the service was incredible, his knowledge and attention to detail were top drawer, plus, he came to see the car, was excited about the project and wanted to do it. Knowing I had someone on board that wanted to do it was a major factor in deciding to spend the money.
I need to convince my wife we need 2 of these, one each, as I've seen a Bentley T1 from 1966 I want....I want.....I want....I want like a spoiled brat.

That is bloody gorgeous... now get some miles put on it!
People say you might get 15mpg on a run and 9 round town, these people lie.My chum in his Corniche is averaging 6.7mpg. I reckon running down the M3 yesterday at 60 to 70mph I got about 10mpg.
If I can spend the same amount again on petrol as I have the car it will have been worth it.
