That is bloody gorgeous... now get some miles put on it!
People say you might get 15mpg on a run and 9 round town, these people lie.

My chum in his Corniche is averaging 6.7mpg. I reckon running down the M3 yesterday at 60 to 70mph I got about 10mpg.

If I can spend the same amount again on petrol as I have the car it will have been worth it.
I'm sure every drop of fuel that behemoth consumes will add to the enjoyment of actually owning it, it certainly would if it were mine.

Looking at the close up shot of the front end, it really does appear to be hewn from solid metal, every line, proportion and detail is right, the swage line and amount of chrome is just spot on. I know a lot of long time customers were shocked when it first appeared in '65 but it still has that typical RR sense of permanence and stability about it, and still does. Wonderful!

Stunning build, doesn't come more dedicated than this. Stupidly vague question I know but what is it like to drive? Comfort, brakes etc. Can it be compared to anything you've had before?

The most comfy cars I have had were BMW E28 (with sprung seats and 14" wheels with 80 series tyres) and an early XJ6. Both incredibly comfy.

The Rolls is in another league of comfort, its like a bed of Hungarian Goose feathers.

Brakes are power assisted, engine driven hydraulic pumps, excellent, a little bit on/off, but once used to them incredible they can pull up a 2.3 tonne car so quick, mind you, there is 6 calipers! (Double on front)

Handling? At best, wayward! Its like steering a ship, but worse.

I have a Spirit II with active ride

The best way i could describe being in one is

You are cocooned from the outside world, Soft Wilton beneath your feet. and lambswool footrugs, the smell of leather, the wonderful walnut that is a mirror image from the centre line all the way around, and just being wafted along and hitting 70 seems unladylike

However if you had a Bentley Turbo, the devil in the car says RIGHT PEDAL..I SAID RIGHT PEDAL and you obey!! The same inside but a beast, it wants to go

When i was doing weddings with my mate we both had SZ series and i did one in his Turbo, Taking it back to him i had to use the M3 and entering the northbound slip at J3 Heard the voice.... i complied and from a sedate 20 just off the Roundabout was doing well over three figures by the time the main carriageway was entered at the end of the slip...NEVER AGAIN!!! until i drove a Bentley Conti Flying Spur.. the clue is in the word Flying..... it just makes you want to. unlike the Phantom which seems to tell you .'I can do it if needed ,but......'

They are alive i tell you!!

You could try and ruin it with a diesel engine, I think I would rather pay for the petrol........or maybe LPG it

Well done, don't suppose by a million to one chance you have bought PMA500H or RPM697X(this one I'm only 90% sure of the number from my childhood)
My dad had RPM 697X from ~1986 to ~1990: Onyx Gold Shadow II - this was me!

Not much news about the Royce, its fine, in the garage, there's a few little jobs to do, but essentailly its just fine, what it really needs is more use.

We moved house last August, new kitchen, new bathroom, rebuilt the chimney stacks and the ridge, put in a Rayburn, dug a 23mtr surface water drain and 40mtrs of 100mm pipe to a ditch, demolished and rebuilt a utility area, plus some other minor stuff.

To make it worse, I took the engines out of the Huntsman to paint them, then broke the golden rule of Fairey boats and bought my next boat before selling the current one.....
