Not sure how I missed this thread! Top work!

With the 19T turbo, did you buy a complete turbo or did you upgrade your existing one? I'm contemplating fitting a 19T of some sort to my 9-3 (will be sticking to 300bhp though as it's cost enough without breaking open an engine to make it stronger!) but I'm not sure which road to go, ie Kinugawa or fit the bigger compressor.
I bought the 19t in parts off eBay, such as the 7cm exhaust housing. CHRA blade was balanced by Tony my mechanic, so the 19t is a bit of a Frankenstein. You will need the bigger compressor wheel AND the Kinugawa, but you should confirm with Noobtune which actuator spring you need. I used a 0.8 spring, which refers to base boost. The Kinugawa helps control the 19t.

Where did you get the rad from? That's the next big purchase for mine
Hi mate the rad was off eBay from a guy in Leicester:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-9-5-2-0L-2-3L-B205-...

Wouldn't mind a straight cut gearbox but ran out of funds! LSD would be very handy. Need to check your thread when I get 5 minutes!

Looking good , have you seen the custom Albert made exhaust manifolds

Get out their destroying bmw egos.......
Yeh the Albert downpipes look fantastic, but I went for a full 3" Abbott Racing system. It's pretty noisy!

Have surprised a few 3.0 diesel Audis and BMWs, they are not amused!

How have you found the ride quality since changing to the B12s?
Absolutely phenomenal. The old suspension was knackered and it honestly makes the car feel brand new. Worth replacing the top mounts and bearings whilst you're at it. It is a little stiffer but it's completely different. It's weird, it rides how I'd imagine an AMG would ride, definitely worth the investment. Order from Germany though and save yourself over 100 quid.

What car did you have previously? I've just posted a "what car" thread on the main forum but the thing that has always stopped me from buying a 9-5 was the handling and I thought if you fixed the handling you destroyed the ride! Interesting to hear the B12 rides well, I imagine it's pretty firm though? Our area is riddled with bad potholes frown
Had an LS400, 2 Focuses, Saxo VTS, Ford Econovan and Mitsubishi Magna amongst a few other sheds, I'd say it's just as good over potholes, and only sits about 10 mm lower. All can say is you'll be mightily impressed with the ride quality of the B12s, it rides like a (sporty) luxury car.

Impressive motor car there fella.
Thanks mate, it took a fair amount of research and hard graft to get it to this stage, makes for a cracking fast road car.

Just received this 'air request' graph off Karl at Noobtune, which refers AFAIK the amount of torque and (as a result bhp) being requested with the t7 mapping (t7suite); as you can see it's pretty linear:

Pearl of wisdom from Noobtune:

The torque in the midrange should be accurate from request to road, it's only the horsepower that will be inaccurate simply because it's a calculation and will (in reality) depend on flow, housing, actuator strength, exhaust, intake restriction etc etc.

After a quick scrub yesterday (while the weather was nice), realised it could do with some work on the front and rear bumpers, new sharkfin antenna on the roof, and a wheel refurb. Not sure whether to go for silver wheel refurb and new centre caps, or gunmetal and black centre caps.

Interior is very smart for the age and wants for nothing; the leather seems to be incredibly hard-wearing. Needs a new head unit though, thinking of an Alpine. Can anyone recommend a decent single or double-DIN head unit, with Bluetooth?

great work love it, I am a 9-5 aero owner with a remap and some hirsch bits, I really want a aero auto wagon with Lpg, currently on the lookout.

Have you seen these guys? https://www.facebook.com/shellfant best aftermarket dash idea I have seen for the Saab.

I am looking at the android headunits from these guys, http://www.eonon.co.uk/ seem to get good reviews and don't look too chinese/ebay style!

Good to hear about Tony Wallis spoke to him a couple of times and he would be who I would use for any engine rebuild work.
LPG would be great but I heard they run hotter so not sure about long term reliability?

That aftermarket dash looks amazing! Fascia for 70 euros, but do you know which tablet device would go with it?

That looks really good value - http://www.eonon.co.uk/2-Din-DVD-Player/D2115.html - thanks for the recommendations.

Can strongly recommend Tony, he has a true passion for Saabs and also being an Aussie he has a 580 bhp Commodore, which is savage!

Be great to see some pics of your Saab, sounds like a beauty!

I find that fascinating, I love these cars and what you've done to yours. This is a proper sleeper! hehe

Your torque curve is superb although how usable is it? In lower gears presumably you are managing grip levels which in itself I also love as it really then becomes a car you have to drive well to get the best from.

My RB5 makes 343bhp on its standard map (I have 6 switchable maps) and looks completely different to this. On the normal map my car makes around 340lb/ft or around 470nm (I can't remember the exact number) but in an entirely different way and grip isn't a problem even in the wet. Below is my dyno output in its standard map (it has a more aggressive map with anti-lag/launch control etc).

Any ideas what time this would post on a quarter mile run?

Anyway top work and I'd love to see it at a track day! smile
Yeh it is a sleeper, it really takes people by surprise! It does require plenty of throttle modulation, but is quite laggy so gives you plenty of time before the turbo kicks you in the back, 3rd gear is the first you can plant your foot down in, but yeh the torque is pretty crazy, can overtake most cars now without surpassing 3000 revs.

Your car must be really fast, they weigh about 200 kg less than these Saabs, and your relative lack of torque is compensated for with a higher rev limit - i.e. your car is able to apply (less) torque at a higher rate of revolutions, resulting in pretty much the same hp.

Car is running really well, apart from a slight grinding noise during engine braking - Could this be a driveshaft bearing? It's a very faint version of this exact noise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPKDrRNdC90

Quarter mile time, not sure but doubt it's be very impressive, by the time it's into its stride it'd have been annihalated! Would love to do it for a laugh though, what about yours?

In other news, been having a play around with Photoshop, trying to preview how it'd look with black wheels, tempted by bronze though:

+1 painted wheels look wrong. Silver is much classier.
Think I'll stick with silver then, they do have some awful kerbing though so will wait until I have sourced new front and rear bumpers before I get the wheels refurbed.

They do look classier in silver, but just feel like it needs a little something else in the styling department, that hints at its potential lol

My car is pretty good but needs more power really, I'm slightly bored of the performance now. I'm going to push towards 450bhp in a few months. Similar cars do the 1/4 in mid 12's so somewhere around there.

What else are you going to do with it?
Amazing how quickly we can get used to more power isn't it! I need to buy a micra or something to reset my perspective of what real world power truly is every now and then, otherwise plans for the future are to fit a gtx3071r turbo and LSD for 500 bhp, but not until next year as I'm so skint now!

What's your 60-90 time now?
Not sure I reckon it's around 4 seconds, but that's just a guess!

First vid once pump is installed will be 40-100 in 3rd gear, just need to find a private road! Need to do a VMax event, also if I do a Nürburgring/autobahn trip I'll have to get the mapping upped to max (540NM) in 5th gear to try and hit the magic 170 although I'm not sure what these are geared for, I remember hearing 168 at the rev limiter in 5th?

That sounds like fun! yes

My car has been running that power for sometime now and its still quick but I'm guilty of wanting 'blow your doors off' quick! It's got everything else in place to do it, just needs a bigger turbo and remap. I have a 150bhp diesel car for day to day duties so feel the difference.

P.S. Silver wheels for me!
Have you done a thread yet on your motor? Needs to be done!

What's making me want to go for silly power are these videos lol

These are hilarious:

And the acceleration is just silly on this one with a GTX3071R (same car as the above vids)
