check the drain holes in the bottom of the door. They block up with muck and the water comes into the car.

cotton bud, bud cut off at an sharp angle = perfect car drain hole prodder.

the sharp tip breaks through, the hollow centre collects the mud.

good knowledge chaps, and worth a look!

I think all the drain points and door seals may merit further investigationing

My 406 used to leak through the plastic membranes on the inside of the doors. Worth reinvestigating if they have perished somewhat. Remember - French car 90's plastics make a disposable cup look well constructed!

Such a clean example of a D-Turbo and considering the mileage - top effort shedding! biggrin

Trousers at half mast please chaps - Poor Pug has Passed on..

What you are watching is a stoically steady fuel pump pulley - It should rotate when the engine cranks.

Looks like a lack of timing belt cohesion is has wot did for it, Capt'n..

Previously it needed

Front arms
Front shocks
Rear shocks
4 tyres of pronouncable name

add to that

timing belt
Water pump
Tensioner
Bosch Pump conversion (best time to do it)
unknown head/valve/camshaft/hydraulic tappet damage

and our survey says

EHHRR EHRRR.

I decided the best way to sort this out was to give the bugger away.

True to form my mate Joe (a Yorkshireman to trade) turned up to collect said chariot and wing it down South for some much needed head work(fnar)

He rather kindly brought some beer!

Shame it ended so quickly. Glad you didn't scrap it though and gave it another chance.

It would have just needed a camshaft and a new belt, they just snap the cams, a new cam, set the shims and you would have been on your way again.

Cracking cars.

I have one but in the big brother style phase 1 with 13k miles, a real cracker
