2015 Ford Focus Ecoboost 125 Wagon
Discussion
Sorry to hear about your issue, fingers crossed its sorted soon with little inconvenience.
I rented a 1.5tdci model a couple of months ago and came away quite impresses. Was quite slow but at least enjoyable to drive hard and drive it hard I did. Its a lovely adjustable chassis, quite forthcoming with lift off oversteer and would even wheel spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
After driving it as a rental should be driven it still returned nearly 50mpg in my company. I would buy one as a cheal family hauler for sure

Cock.
Just got a call from the Mrs. to say it's distributing petrol all over the driveway again.
Quite a puddle apparently
Cock indeed, I wonder if Ford will pay for the driveway cleaning Just got a call from the Mrs. to say it's distributing petrol all over the driveway again.

Sad to hear it's spoiling your enjoyment though, having driven a Fester with this engine I feel I have to post again to say what a great car they generally are. I took it on various trips from hard A and B road blasting to more suburban stuff and could just not fault it. The suspension soaked up the potholes, yet when chucked into a corner it gripped, composed and held itself upright superbly. The engine had a rough growl when the pedal was floored and pulled hard at low RPM. I quite liked the off beat burble of the I3 and wondered why it felt so smooth when it shouldn't have. On opening the bonnet with it running it was obvious - very clever engine mounts as it was clearly shaking like a sting dog!
I love the whole package especially the advanced technical aspect of the engine, no wonder it won Engine of the Year at least three years running.
I hope Ford can sort it out for you soon so you can get out and enjoy it, there is nothing in its class to rival it, even the other car manufacturers know it (we found when looking).

You have my sympathies over the fuel leak, it must be really frustrating for it to happen to what sounds like a great car.
I've found this thread to be very interesting as we have a C-Max 1.6 EcoBoost in the family, and didn't really bother looking at the 1.0 as we assumed that it would struggle in a car of that size. I'm now wondering if we were too quick to dismiss it, particularly as the performance of the 1.6 is impressive but the fuel consumption less so. I wonder what the difference in MPG would be between the 1.0 and 1.6 EcoBoost in the same car?
I've driven a Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost and thought the engine performed excellently in that, but it never occurred to me to consider it in a larger car - your positive feedback has convinced me that it's worth a go.

Do people really care that much about a few mpg here or there? If a few hundred quid a year matters, buy a cheaper car, surely? I find the maths hard to follow.
Its obviously part of choosing a new car for a huge number of people. It's not the main reason for choosing a particular car, just a factor.Buying cheaper doesn't really work if you end up in a car you didn't want.
sorry to hear about your woes with the car - all manufacturers and models have these isolated issues so as long as ford are sorting for you then all is good.
my friend has the bigger engined/older eco boost and while i enjoyed driving it, it didn't seem to offer what i thought it would from that engine.
the autopark/speed limit recognition/lane assist stuff was all interesting but i found that when you started to dig into the quality, there were rattles and squeaks and badly fitting inner panels etc.
for the money i find them just missing something but they are great cars and ford have always delivered well.

The Eco Sport is a horrible vehicle. Ford make a lot of really brilliant stuff - Fiesta, Focus, S Max, B Max, and they always have done, but they do seem to occasionally turn out an utter stinker for no apparent reason. The Eco Sport falls into the latter category, it's a car designed to be cheap and sold in developing markets which they decided to try and sell in Europe to compete with the likes of the (much better) Captur, 2008 and Mokka. I suspect the new Ka will be similarly bad, with notable previous 'misses' including the Fiat 500 based and the Fusion.
I much prefer the cabin of the Golf to the Focus, but the basic ones do feel very spartan and cheap with the lower grade finishing trim. The Focus is the same on that front, they are very good at making the base models feel miserable to encourage you to upgrade to the higher spec versions.
In my experience I've always found VW group cars get closer to their published economy than Fords, I was amazed at the economy I got from a Golf 1.4 TSI on a run to Munich and back, it was 6,something which given the amount of time sat at 180+ or crawling in traffic was astonishing.
